Would you like to speed up the creation of blog posts for your WordPress website? Maybe you want to save hiring a content writer and want to use artificial intelligence to generate content for your blog? Well, you’re in the best place because here we’ll show you how to import AI-generated WordPress posts from Google Sheets.
Generating articles and blog posts for your website with Artificial Intelligence can be a big step for your website because it can save you thousands of hours of work, among other benefits.
The normal way to write blog posts with AI is to ask any tool to write articles individually. But even that will take too much time if you want to write hundreds of posts for your blog.
That’s why we want to show you how to generate hundreds or thousands of blog posts in Google Sheets and then import all them directly into WordPress.
What you need to import AI-generated posts from Google Sheets
Here’s what you need in order to import AI-generated posts from Google Sheets into WordPress:
a) WP Sheet Editor plugin:
This bulk editor plugin allows you to increase your productivity by viewing and managing posts, pages, products and custom post types in a spreadsheet within WordPress.
You can download the plugin here: Download Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types Spreadsheet Plugin - or - Check the features
b) Google Sheets Sync service:
The Google Sheets Sync service allows you to export and import WordPress content using Google Sheets.
You can export and import immediately, as well as create scheduled exports and imports (one-time, in real time, recurring).
You can sign up to the service here:
Sign up to the Google Sheets Sync Service - or - Check the features
c) Any Google Sheets add-on to generate content
There are many add-ons for Google Sheets that can help you generate content.
In this example, we are going to use the AI Assist for Gemini™ in Sheets™ and Docs™ extension, but you can use any other add-on.
Step 1. Connect WordPress to Google Sheets
When you sign up to the Google Sheets Sync service, you’ll get a helper plugin that will allow you to connect your WordPress site to your Google Sheets account, to the Google API, and to the WP Sheet Editor API.
Follow this guide to do it.
Step 2. Export a sample post from WordPress to Google Sheets
Before generating and importing WordPress posts in Google Sheets using any AI extension, you need to export from WordPress to Google Sheets.
Here are some things you need to take into account:
- To protect your privacy, our Google Sheets Sync service doesn’t read files that have not been created with the service itself.
- In other words, the service doesn’t recognize files that were not first exported from WordPress to Google Sheets using the service.
- This means that we don’t have any access to other files on your Google account; not even to other Google Sheets files.
- Therefore, to import a Google Sheets file, you’ll need to first export it from one site.
- Once you’ve exported it, you can edit existing data or create new data in Google Sheets.
As you can see below, we have created a sample post, and it’s displayed in the spreadsheet if we go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit posts.
You need to open the Export tool.
Now, select these values in order to export your sample post to Google Sheets:
- What columns do you want to export: In this example, we will export some selected columns only (Title, Content, Status, Excerpt, Categories).
- Which rows do you want to export: All the rows from my current search.
- What app will you use to edit this file: Google Sheets
- Name of this export: Add a name here, and this will be the name of your Google Sheet.
- Click on Start new export.
Now you need to click on the View Google Sheet link to view the Google Sheet generated by this export.
As you can see below, we have exported our sample post to Google Sheets, and now we can start generating the posts with AI.
Step 3. Generate posts with AI in Google Sheets
Now it’s time to start generating our WordPress posts with Artificial Intelligence in Google Sheets.
For example, we are going to generate posts for these titles:
Depending on the add-on you are using, you will be able to generate post content based on the article title.
Just type the prompt in the corresponding cells to generate the articles/blog posts.
We can also generate blog post excerpts from the text of the blog post content.
Once we generate all the articles we need, we are ready to import our AI-generated blog posts from Google Sheets into WordPress.
Step 4. Import AI-generated posts from Google Sheets into WordPress
In Google Sheets, you need to start by opening the Import tool.
Now you need to select these values in the Import tool:
- Source: Google Sheets
- Google Sheet file: Select the Google Sheet where you generated your blog posts. If you don’t find the file, you can refresh the list.
- Click on Next.
In this example, we will Import all the columns, but you can Select individual columns to import if you want.
We will Import all rows as new for this example, so let’s click on Next.
Finally, we’ll see a preview of the data.
If everything is OK, we need to click on The preview is fine, start import.
Step 5. Complete other posts data in the spreadsheet
As you can see, our AI-generated posts in Google Sheets have been imported into WordPress.
We can see them in the WP Sheet Editor spreadsheet.
If you go to the Posts > All posts page in wp-admin, you will see the posts as well.
Optionally, you can complete other posts data in WP Sheet Editor.
For example, you can add featured images for your posts.
Just move to the Featured Image column and start adding the images.
Once you’re done, click on Save to apply the changes to all the posts.
As you can see below, we have added featured images to our posts, and they are now displayed in full on the blog page of our website.
With WP Sheet Editor and Google Sheets Sync, you can import content from Google Sheets to WordPress and save a lot of time.
You can use any add-on for Google Sheets to generate posts, products, events, or any other post type, and then import the content easily.
