1- Open any WP Sheet Editor spreadsheet
In this example, we will use the WordPress posts spreadsheet, but you can use the same prompt shortcuts in all WP Sheet Editor spreadsheets. You can use this method for any post type or field in your WordPress site.
2- Write prompt shortcuts or complete prompts
Prompts in WP Sheet Editor – AI are perfect for both generating new content and editing existing content. Depending on the type of prompt you use, you can either create fresh content or edit your current text.
How to use AI prompts in spreadsheet cells
You have two options to use prompts in spreadsheet cells:
- Prompt shortcuts. This is great to run global prompts in spreadsheet cells without having to type the whole prompt every time.
- Complete custom prompts. This is great if you want to write a prompt right in the spot, so you don’t have to save the prompts before using them.
To execute a prompt in any cell, simply type
ai:
followed by the prompt slug or the full prompt.
a) Using prompt shortcuts
For example, if you have a pre-saved a global prompt named
Write Post
, whose prompt slug is
write-post
you need to type
ai:write-post
in the corresponding cell. Once you hit Enter, the AI will start working and complete the task, using your saved prompt.
You can generate images for your posts, pages, products, or custom post types by entering this shortcut:
ai:image
. Of course, you can save a prompt for generating images to give it more context like generating the image based on the post title, the post content, the post excerpt, etc.
b) Using full prompts
You can enter the complete prompt instead of the prompt slug. This method works perfectly for:
- Polishing existing text
- Translating existing content
- Or anything you want to do without having to pre-save the prompt
For example, you can enter something like
ai:translate into spanish
, and the AI will do the work.
Notes:
- When you enter your prompt in an empty cell, we automatically send the values from the first 10 columns as context of your prompt. So the AI can generate a text related to your post.
- When you enter your prompt in a cell with an existing value, we automatically send the existing value as context, so the AI can edit the existing value using your prompt.
- You can adjust the 2 prompt templates in our advanced settings. You can customize the prompt template used for empty cells, and for cells with existing values.
