If you have a blog or have created many pages for your website, and suddenly get messages from your users saying they don’t see any content in some of your entries or pages, then you need to know which of your posts and pages exactly have empty content in order to edit them or delete them. Now, imagine you have 1000 posts or pages to check. That can be a tedious task.
What if we told you that there’s a really simple way of doing that? And not only that; you can completely manage your website and apply hundreds of changes to thousands of products with a few clicks without using any codes.
We’re talking about the WP Sheet Editor Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types Spreadsheet Plugin.
Install WP Sheet Editor
With this plugin you can edit hundreds of posts and pages quickly. It displays them in a beautiful spreadsheet that contains a powerful Bulk Edit tool.
You can download the plugin here: Download Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types Spreadsheet Plugin - or - Check the features
After you install and activate the plugin, you’ll see how your posts and pages are displayed in the spreadsheet.
Depending on what you want to edit, you need to select which spreadsheet you’ll use.
- To edit posts, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit posts.
- To edit pages, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit pages.
1- Search all posts and pages with empty content
You need to know which of your posts and pages have empty content, and for that you can use the spreadsheet, just go to the Content column and see them. However, we want to show you how to filter all your posts and pages with empty column using the Search tool the plugin includes.
Just click Search on the toolbar.
Once you open the tool, tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and use these values to filter all your posts and pages with empty content:
- Field key: Content (post_content)
- Operator: =
- Value: leave this field empty
After setting those values, hit the Run search button and the posts or pages with empty content will be shown in the spreadsheet.
2- Edit posts and pages cell by cell in the spreadsheet
When you filter the posts and pages with empty content, you can edit their content individually just by going to the Content columns and editing it. Then, just hit Save on the toolbar.
3- Bulk edit empty posts and pages
If you want to edit and set the same content for some of your pages or posts, you can use the Bulk Edit tool. For example, you can put a message saying, “We’re currently working on this post/page”. For that you just need to open the Bulk Edit tool on the toolbar and set these values:
- What field do you want to edit: Content
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: Add the content you want.
Done
Finding and editing your posts and pages is really simple if you use WP Sheet Editor.
