WooCommerce – How to Change Stock Status in Bulk

Let us guess… You want to change the stock status on hundreds of products, and you’ve been told that you need to use a code to do it. Right?

Maybe you’re not producing a product anymore or some of them just don’t work, and you want to change their status from “in stock” to “out of stock”. But you don’t find a way to do it quickly without using codes.

However, we want to show you that there is in fact an option with which you don’t need to use any code.

You just have to hit some buttons and use some fields, and you’ll have changed the stock status of hundreds of your WooCommerce products.

For this, you’ll use the WP Sheet Editor Products Spreadsheet plugin.

Install WP Sheet Editor

This plugin helps you apply changes on hundreds of products with its powerful Bulk Edit tool. You can easily edit your products in a beautiful spreadsheet.

Skip this step if you have the plugin installed and activated.

The plugin displays your products in a spreadsheet where you can see and edit their complete information.

1. Change stock status in all products containing a keyword

If you want to change the stock status in all products containing a specific keyword like “Shirt” for example, you need to take these simple steps:

Open the “Bulk Edit” tool

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once. Open it by clicking it on the plugin’s toolbar.

Search the rows you’ll update

For this, select I want to search rows to update in the Select the rows that you want to update field.

Filter the products by keyword

To filter all products containing a specific keyword, you need to write the keyword in the Contains keyword field.

After that, hit the Run search button, and it will filter your products and take you back to the Bulk Edit tool.

Change the stock status on the filtered products

After filtering the products, you need to set these values in the Bulk Edit tool to change the stock status:

• What field do you want to edit: Stock status
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Tick the Replace existing value with this value checkbox to put products in stock, or leave it unchecked to put them out of stock.
• Hit the “Execute now” button.

Now, your products will be modified according to the changes you select.

2. Change the stock status on products by category, attribute, or tag

To change the stock status of all products containing a category, attribute or tag, you need to take these simple steps in WP Sheet Editor:

Open the “Bulk Edit” tool

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once. Open it by clicking it on the plugin’s toolbar.

Select the products you’ll edit

Select I want to search rows to update in Select the rows that you want to update.

This opens a search tool, which helps you filter your products by category, attribute or tag in this case.

Filter the products by category, attribute, or tag

To filter all products containing a category, attribute or tag, you need to write it in the Enter tags field. It’s important to notice that this same field works for those three searches.

Change the stock status on the filtered products

After filtering the products, you need to set these values in the Bulk Edit tool to change the stock status:

• What field do you want to edit: Stock status
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Tick the Replace existing value with this value checkbox to put products in stock. Leave it unchecked to put them out of stock.
• Hit the “Execute now” button.

Now, your products will be modified according to the changes you select.
