Sometimes your parent products have their images and everything complete, but their variations don’t have any images.

One day, your client asks you to upload images to all product variations missing them.

However, in WooCommerce you’ll take lots of hours to do that, and it’ll be tedious and boring.

That’s why in this article we’ll show you how to upload images to product variations by keyword, category, attribute, tag, date, and downloadable products.

1- Install WP Sheet Editor

This plugin allows you to apply changes to thousands of products with just some clicks. It includes powerful tools such as the “Apply changes in bulk” and the “Search” tool.

When you open the plugin you’ll see a spreadsheet with all your products and their info.

If you want to upload images to all product variations containing a category, you need to first find the product variations missing images and then upload them.

For all of this, you’ll need to use the “Bulk Edit” tool, so open it by clicking it on the toolbar above the spreadsheet.

a) Find product variations missing images

The first thing you need to do is to find product variations without images. For this, you need to hit the “Select rows” button.

Once there, you need to write the product keyword in the “Contains keyword” field.

Then, you need to check the “Search on product variations” checkbox, which will filter product variations only.

After that, you need to check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox, which will help you set the values to find the product variations without an image.

In the advanced filters, you need to set these values:

  • Write “_thumbnai_id” in “Field key”.
  • In “Operator”, select “=”.
  • Leave the “Value” checkbox unchecked because it means your products have no image.
  • Hit the “Run search” button.
