Difference between each import option (step 3 of the import)

WP Sheet Editor allows you to import your rows in 4 different ways. Here’s a quick explanation on each of them:

  • Create new items and update existing items: Use this option to import new rows (products, posts, users, etc) and update existing rows. Remember that the plugin will know which to update and which to create depending on what column you choose to match the rows. Typically, you should use the ID, Title or SKU (it must be a unique value). For example, if you select “Title”, it will update rows with same title and create rows for the new titles found in your CSV file.
  • Only create new items, ignore existing items: Use this option to only import non-existing rows and ignore the existing ones. You will need to select the column/field to detect the existing items, for example, ID, title, sku, etc.
  • Import all rows as new: Use this option if you want to create all rows as new, regardless of the ID or unique criteria you use. This might generate duplicates if you are importing again existing items.
  • Update existing items, ignore new items: Use this option if you want to only update existing rows and ignore (not import) new reviews.
