WooCommerce – How to Add a Purchase Note to Products Quickly

If you have some product that use a PDF manual, or if you want to share a code with your customers so that they get 10%off in their next purchase, then you need to add a purchase note to your products. However, that can be somewhat difficult if you have hundreds of products to edit. Also, you have to take into account that until now the only way to do that is to use a .php code.

However, we want to show you how to do that using the WP Sheet Editor Products Spreadsheet plugin. It is really easy, and you don’t have to use any code. You’ll do it all in an easy-to-use spreadsheet.

When you open the plugin, you’ll see a spreadsheet with all your products’ information.

1. Add a purchase note to products by keyword

If you want to add a shopping note to all products containing a specific keyword like “Shirt” for example, then you need to take some simple steps:

Open the “Bulk Edit” tool

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once. Open it by clicking it on the plugin’s toolbar.

Select the products you’ll edit

In this case, you need to filter the products by keyword. For that, you need to first select the I want to search rows to update in the Select the rows that you want to update. This will open a search tool to help you filter the products you’ll edit.

Filter the products by keyword

To filter all products containing a specific keyword, you need to write the keyword in the “Contains keyword” field. After that, hit the “Run search” button, and it will filter your products and take you back to the Bulk Edit tool.

Add a purchase note to all products filtered

After filtering the products, you need to set these values in the Bulk Edit tool to change add the purchase note you wish:

• What field do you want to edit: Purchase note
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter your purchase note.
• Click on Execute now.

2. Add a purchase note to products by category, attribute or tag

To add a shopping note to all products containing a category, attribute or tag, please take these simple steps:

Select the products you’ll edit

Select the I want to search rows to update in the Select the rows that you want to update. This button opens a search tool, which helps you filter your products by category, attribute, or tag.

Filter the products by category, attribute or tag

To filter all products by category, attribute or tag, you need to write it in the “Enter product category” field. It’s important to say that this same field works for those three searches.

After that, hit the “Run search” button, and it will filter your products and take you back to the Bulk Edit tool.

Add a purchase note to all products filtered

After filtering the products, you need to set these values in the Bulk Edit tool to change add the purchase note you wish:

• What field do you want to edit: Purchase note
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter your purchase note.
• Click on Execute now.

3. Add a purchase note to all downloadable products

To add a shopping note to all downloadable products, you need to do the following:

Open the “Bulk Edit” tool

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once. Open it by clicking it on the plugin’s toolbar.

Select the products you’ll edit

Select the I want to search rows to update in the Select the rows that you want to update.

Filter the downloadable products

To filter them, you need to take these simple steps:

• Check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox, which will open the fields you need to search for the downloadable products.
• Write “_downloadable” in Field key.
• Select “=” in the Operator field.
• Check the “Value” checkbox.

After that, hit the “Run search” button, and it will filter your products and take you back to the Bulk Edit tool.

After filtering the products, you need to set these values in the Bulk Edit tool to change add the purchase note you wish:

• What field do you want to edit: Purchase note
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter your purchase note.
