Learn how to delete all product attributes in WooCommerce at once. This guide shows you how to bulk clear attributes by category, keyword, or even for downloadable products using an intuitive spreadsheet interface.
Imagine this situation: Your client asks you to redesign their store because they want to improve sales. They have made some important changes to the product lineup, and as a result, the existing product attributes are no longer relevant. The products will remain in the store, but they now have different sizes and colors, so the client asks you to clear all the old data and start fresh.
How do you do it? We know perfectly well that while this is a great idea for the store’s organization, it is incredibly hard to do one by one. By default, WooCommerce doesn’t let you clear attributes across hundreds of products quickly, leaving you stuck with hours of manual work clicking through every single product page.
Keep reading, and we’ll show you how simple and fast it is to delete all product attributes. You’ll see how to filter and delete attributes from all products or target them by category, keyword, attribute, and more.

1. How to mass delete product attributes from all products
With WP Sheet Editor, you can easily delete all of your product attributes with just a few clicks. This is the fastest method if you need a total reset of your product data across the entire store.
Step 1: Open the Bulk Edit tool
This tool helps you apply changes to thousands of products at once. You don’t need to write any custom code or handle complex snippets; you just use the visual interface. You can open it by clicking Bulk Edit on the plugin’s toolbar.
Step 2: Clear the product attributes from all your products
To wipe the attributes from every product in your store, use these values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Product attributes
- Select type of edit: Clear value
- Click on Execute now
The plugin will then process the change in the background, clearing the data from every product without you having to open a single page. This is the most efficient way to reset your product structure.
2. Delete product attributes from products containing a keyword or category
You can also be more specific. If you only need to delete attributes from a certain line of products—for example, all products containing the keyword “Shirt”—you can do that easily. This is perfect for targeted store redesigns or seasonal updates.
Step 1: Open the Bulk Edit tool
Just like in the previous step, click on Bulk Edit on the toolbar to get started with your filtered update.
Step 2: Filter your products by keyword, category, or tag
To find the specific products you want to modify, select the I want to search rows to update option in the Select the rows that you want to update dropdown. This will open a search window with advanced filtering options.
In the search window, you’ll find several fields to narrow down your selection efficiently:
- Contains keyword: Enter a keyword like “Shirt” or “Modern” to find specific products.
- Status: Filter by Draft, Published, Scheduled, etc.
- Enter Tags: Use this to find products by Category, attribute, or tag.
After you select your filters, click on Run search. The plugin will filter your products and return you to the Bulk Edit tool with those products selected.
Step 3: Execute the attribute deletion
Now, set the Bulk Edit tool to clear the values for your filtered list of items:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Product attributes
- Select type of edit: Clear value
- Click on Execute now
3. Delete product attributes from your downloadable products
If you sell virtual products such as e-books, manuals, wallpapers, or videos, you may find that attributes (like “size” or “color”) are completely unnecessary and want to remove them to clean up your product pages for a better user experience.
Step 1: Open the Bulk Edit tool
Click on Bulk Edit on the plugin’s toolbar to begin the process of cleaning up your virtual catalog.
Step 2: Filter your downloadable products using advanced filters
Select I want to search rows to update in the Select the rows that you want to update dropdown. To find only virtual/downloadable items, we need to use the advanced filters capability.
Once the search window is open, configure the following settings to target your downloadable files:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox
- Field key: Downloadable (_downloadable)
- Operator: =
- Value: Tick the checkbox (Yes)
Click on Run search to see the results displayed in the spreadsheet.
Step 3: Clear the attributes from the selected products
Now, simply apply the final edit to the filtered list of downloadable products:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Product attributes
- Select type of edit: Clear value
- Click on Execute now
Done! Bulk Deleting Attributes is Simple
How simple! As you can see, deleting product attributes from your WooCommerce products—whether you’re doing it for a few categories or your entire inventory—is really simple with WP Sheet Editor. You don’t need to be a developer to manage your store data like a pro and keep your catalog clean.
The plugin ensures that your server remains stable by processing these changes in batches, preventing the dreaded “timeout” errors often seen with large bulk operations on other platforms.
