WooCommerce – How to Bulk Edit Upsells and Cross-sells

In this tutorial, we will show you how to bulk edit WooCommerce upsells and cross-sells, using an intuitive spreadsheet. Instead of opening and editing product one at a time, we will show you how to bulk update upsells and cross-sells on multiple products at once.

You know that editing upsells and cross-sells individually on different products can be tedious and time-consuming. But with WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Products, you can do it with a few clicks. WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Products allows you to view and manage your WooCommerce products in a spreadsheet on the WordPress admin dashboard. This spreadsheet includes advanced search, bulk edit, export, and import tools.

Once you install the plugin and activate your license, you need to follow the steps in the sections below in order to bulk edit upsells and cross-sells.

Open the products spreadsheet

To view and manage your WooCommerce products in a spreadsheet, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit products.

How to bulk edit WooCommerce upsells

WooCommerce upsells are products you suggest as better choices than the one a customer is looking at. These products might be higher quality, have more features, or be more expensive.

This is how upsells work:

• They show on the product page, usually under “You may also like…”
• They help customers choose a better version of what they want.
• They are different from cross-sells, which suggest extra items in the cart.

For example, if a customer looks at a basic t-shirt, you can upsell:

• A better quality t-shirt
• A t-shirt with a unique design
• A bundle of 3 t-shirts for a better deal

To add or edit upsells to your WooCommerce products, you have at least two options:

Option 1 – Edit upsells in the spreadsheet

Go to the Upsells column in the spreadsheet, where you can paste product IDs or product SKUs separated by commas.

Once you’re done, click on Save.

Option 2 – Edit upsells in bulk

This is really useful to add the same upsells to multiple products.

To select the products you want to edit, you can:

1. Edit all the products (open the Bulk Edit tool directly).
2. Use the Search tool to filter all the products you will edit (by keyword, category, tag, etc.).
3. Manually select the products you will edit (this is what we’ll do in this example).

Once you have selected all the products you want to edit, open the Bulk Edit tool.

Now you need to select these values in order to bulk edit upsells:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit the rows that I selected manually in the spreadsheet (in this example)
• What field do you want to edit: Upsells
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Add the product IDs or SKUs here.
• Click on Execute Now.

As you can see, we have added upsells to our selected products in bulk.

How to bulk edit WooCommerce cross-sells

WooCommerce cross-sells are products you suggest that go well with what the customer is buying. These are related items that the customer might need or want to buy together.

This is how cross-sells work:

• They show on the cart page, usually under “You may also like…”
• They help customers find extra items that match their purchase.
• They are different from upsells, which suggest a better version of the product.

For example, if a customer adds a t-shirt to the cart, you can cross-sell:

• Jeans that match the t-shirt
• A hat with the same design
• A pack of socks to complete the outfit

To add or edit cross-sells to your WooCommerce products, you have at least two options:

Option 1 – Edit cross-sells in the spreadsheet

Go to the Cross-sells column and add product IDs or SKUs separated by commas.

Once you’re done, you need to click on Save.

Option 2 – Edit cross-sells in bulk

This is really useful to add the same cross-sells to multiple products.

To select the products you want to edit, you can:

1. Edit all the products (open the Bulk Edit tool directly).
2. Use the Search tool to filter all the products you will edit (by keyword, category, tag, etc.).
3. Manually select the products you will edit (this is what we’ll do in this example).

Once you have selected all the products you want to edit, open the Bulk Edit tool.

Now you need to select these values in order to bulk edit cross-sells:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit the rows that I selected manually in the spreadsheet (in this example)
• What field do you want to edit: Cross-sells
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Add the product IDs or SKUs here.
• Click on Execute Now.

As you can see, we have added cross-sells to our selected products in bulk.

How to replace specific upsells or cross-sells in bulk

You can use the Bulk Edit tool to replace specific upsells or cross-sells on your WooCommerce products.

For example, let’s open the Bulk Edit tool to search and replace a specific cross-sell from all our products (this applies to upsells as well).

Now select the following values:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
• What field do you want to edit: Cross-sells
• Select type of edit: Replace
• Replace this: Add the ID or SKU of the product you want to remove.
• With this: Add the ID or SKU of the new product.
• Click on Execute Now.
