How to Bulk Exclude Categories from WooCommerce Coupons

In this tutorial, we will show you how to bulk exclude categories from WooCommerce coupons (bulk restrict WooCommerce coupons by category). You’ll see how to manage the category restrictions of your WooCommerce coupons using an intuitive spreadsheet.

A few days ago, a user asked us how he could prevent his WooCommerce discount coupons from being applicable to products in the “Fashion” category in his online store.

All products in the fashion category were on sale, but he did not want to restrict the coupons on all products on sale.

So he wanted to apply a bulk edit to restrict coupons by product category.

Install the “WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Coupons” plugin

As you know, WooCommerce coupons allow you to exclude categories so that the coupons are not applied when those products are included in the order.

However, excluding categories in hundreds of coupons at once is not possible. What’s why in this guide we’ll use the WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Coupons plugin to bulk exclude categories.

This plugin allows you to view and manage your WooCommerce products using an intuitive spreadsheet. In this case, it will allow you to bulk exclude categories from your WooCommerce coupons.

After completing the payment process, you will get a zip file that you need to install as a plugin on your website.

1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
2. Click on Upload plugin.
3. Click on Choose file.
4. Locate the file on your computer.
5. Click on Install now.
6. Click on Activate plugin.
7. Enter your license and click on Activate License.

Open the WooCommerce coupons spreadsheet

To open the spreadsheet, you need to go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit coupons, and you’ll see a spreadsheet containing all your WooCommerce coupons.

The spreadsheet contains the following features:

• Add new – This button helps you create new coupons in the spreadsheet.
• Search – With this tool, you can search specific coupons using different search terms.
• Bulk Edit – This is a powerful tool that helps you apply changes to thousands of coupons at once.
• Duplicate – This button helps you create hundreds of copies out of a coupon.
• Locate cell – Here you can enter a specific cell content, and it will take you right to that cell.

Option 1 – Bulk exclude categories in the spreadsheet

If you want to start excluding categories in multiple coupons, you can use the spreadsheet.

You just need to go to the Exclude categories column and select the categories you want to exclude from your coupons.

You can autofill cells below just as you would do it in Excel or Google Sheets.

Once you’re done editing your coupons to bulk exclude categories from them, you need to click on Save to apply the changes.

Option 2 – Bulk exclude categories from selected coupons

One of the best ways to bulk edit multiple coupons is to select the coupons using the checkbox picker in the first column of the spreadsheet.

Once you have checked the coupons from which you will exclude categories, you need to open the Bulk Edit tool.

Now just select these values to bulk exclude categories from selected WooCommerce coupons:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit the rows that I selected manually in the spreadsheet
• What field do you want to edit: Exclude categories
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the category / categories you want to exclude in bulk here.
• Click on Execute Now.

Option 3 – Exclude categories from coupons in bulk

WP Sheet Editor allows you to run advanced searches and bulk update the search results. For example, you can bulk edit all coupons by coupon amount, discount type, individual use only, expiry date, etc.

You just need to start by opening the Search tool.

In this example, we will search for all the coupons whose coupon amount is 15% or higher. To do this, we need to select these values in the Search tool:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
• Field: Coupon amount
• Operator: >=
• Value: Enter the value here.
• Click on Run search.

After running the search, all the coupons that match the search terms will be displayed in the spreadsheet.

Now you need to open the Bulk Edit tool.

Now just select these values to bulk exclude categories from all the coupons that you searched:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit the rows that I selected manually in the spreadsheet
• What field do you want to edit: Exclude categories
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the category / categories you want to exclude in bulk here.
• Click on Execute Now.
