HivePress – Business Directory & Classified Ads Plugin is a WordPress plugin that you can use to create directory and listing websites with WordPress. It allows you to build various types of directories, such as business directories, job boards, real estate listings, or service marketplaces, all without needing extensive coding knowledge.
That’s great, but there’s one problem we’re sure you’ve run into if you’ve used the HivePress plugin to manage your listings: Bulk actions are too limited. If you need to make changes to multiple listings at once, the options are quite restricted, requiring you to edit each listing individually.
This can be time-consuming, especially when managing large directories with hundreds of listings, as it lacks more advanced bulk editing features. Fortunately, WP Sheet Editor – Post Types offers a powerful solution to the limited bulk actions in HivePress by allowing you to manage and edit listings in an intuitive spreadsheet format.

- Go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup spreadsheet.
- Tick the Listings post type.
- Click on Save.
Now you will see the available columns, and you have to decide which columns you want to see/use in the spreadsheet and which columns you want to disable/hide.
You just need to drag the columns to the left or right side to enable/disable them.
Once you’re done, click on Save.
You will see all your listings displayed in the spreadsheet. Each row is a listing and each column is a field.
Bulk edit listings in the spreadsheet
The spreadsheet allows you to edit any field in any row easily. An important thing to note is that each column works according to the field type, so when you want to edit the cells, you will not only have to add text, but you will be able to use the fields intuitively.
This is a great way to edit hundreds of fields in hundreds of HivePress listings easily, as it allows you to view and edit everything in one place, saving you time and effort and improving your productivity.
a) Edit text fields
You can edit text fields and number fields just as you would in Excel. Just go to the cell you want to edit and start editing the text.
b) Edit text editor fields
There are fields such as the “Content” field that contain a text editor that allows you to add formatting to your texts. To open the text editor in a popup, you can click on the edit text button in each cell.
That will display the text editor in a popup, so you can edit text intuitively. Note: If you do not want to open the text editor, you can double-click on the cell and add plain text, using HTML tags.
c) Edit date fields
You can edit date/time fields by clicking on the calendar button, which will display the date and time picker as a popup in each cell.
d) Edit dropdown fields
The drop-down fields that allow you to select an option will display the selectable options when you double-click on the cell.
e) Edit file fields
Fields containing media files such as images, videos, PDFs, etc., allow you to open the media library or upload the media files from your computer. For example, the Featured Image field.
If you do not want to do this, you can paste the URL of the file into the cell as plain text.
To upload or select the files, just click the upload button in each cell.
This will display a popup that allows you to upload or select media files.
f) Edit taxonomy term fields (categories, condition, type, availability, shipping, warranty)
HivePress adds several taxonomies to your listings. For example, you can create and assign categories, condition, type, availability, shipping, warranty.
The good thing is that WP Sheet Editor cells work intuitively so you can select the terms for each field easily. Just double click on the cell you want to edit, and it will show you the terms you can select.
If you start typing, you will see suggestions of existing terms. If the term does not exist, you can add it from the cell.
g) Edit checkbox fields
Checkbox fields allow you to check or uncheck checkboxes easily.
h) Edit vendor fields
You can also edit the vendor of each listing. Just type the name and the box will suggest vendors that match the text you have added.
Save changes to all the listings you’ve edited
Once you’re done bulk editing your HivePress listings, you need to apply the changes by clicking on Save. This is great because, no matte how many fields and rows you edit, you just have to save changes once.
Bulk edit hundreds of listings at once
If you don’t want to use the spreadsheet to edit your HivePress Listings, you can edit any field in hundreds or thousands of listings easily, using the Bulk Edit tool.
This is really useful if you want to:
- Bulk delete HivePress listings
- Assign all listings from one vendor to another in bulk
- Bulk update listing category, type, condition, shipping, etc.
- Copy HivePress listings’ data from one field to another in bulk
To select the listings you want to edit in bulk, you have two options: you can select them manually or you can search for them using listing fields as search terms. Let’s see one example of each.
a) Select listings manually and bulk edit all the selected listings
If you want to manually select all the listings you want to edit, just use the checkbox picker in the first column of the spreadsheet. Check the checkbox to select the listings.
Now you need to open the Bulk Edit tool.
In this example, we will show you the values you need to select in the Bulk Edit tool in order to bulk delete HivePress listings:
- Select the rows that you want to edit: Edit the rows that I selected manually in the spreadsheet
- What field do you want to edit: Status
- Select the type of edit: Set value
- Replace the existing value with this value: Delete completely
- Click on Execute Now.
b) Search for listings and bulk edit all the search results
If you do not want to manually select the listings you want to edit, you can search for listings using any field as a search filter.
In this example, we want to show you how to easily search and edit listings using an advanced search that meets the following search terms:
- Condition: New
- Shipping: Worldwide
- Verified: Yes
- Vendor: Brian Peterson
To apply these search filters, you need to open the Search tool.
Now you need to select the following values in the Search tool:
- Enter Categories, Condition, Type, Availability, Shipping, or Warranty: In this field, you need to enter the condition term (new, in this case) and the shipping term (worldwide, in this case).
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and select these values:
- Filter 1:
- Field: Hp Verified
- Operator: =
- Value: Yes
- Click on Add new to create a new advanced filter.
- Filter 2:
- Field: Vendor
- Operator: =
- Value: Enter the vendor here.
- Filter 1:
- Click on Run search.
After running the search, you’ll see all the listings matching the search terms displayed in the spreadsheet.
Now you need to open the Bulk Edit tool.
In this example, we will show you how to assign all the filtered listings from one vendor to another. You just need to select the following values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to edit: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows)
- What field do you want to edit: Vendor
- Select the type of edit: Set value
- Replace the existing value with this value: Add the new value here. It should work with the name and/or vendor ID.
- Click on Execute Now.
As you can see, you can manage thousands of HivePress listings in a spreadsheet. You don’t have to open and edit listings one by one. Instead, you can view and manage all your listings in one place with WP Sheet Editor. You can bulk update thousands of listings with a few clicks.
