WP Sheet Editor – AI is compatible with these AI providers:
- Open AI for text and images (more info here)
- OpenRouter (more info here)
- Any other provider that uses the same format as OpenAI.
We assume you already configured WP Sheet Editor – AI.
But if you havent, you can follow this guide to learn how to set up AI providers in WP Sheet Editor – AI.
Step 1. Detect low-quality WordPress posts
The first step is to find the low-quality posts on your WordPress site.
We created a simple guide that shows you how to use generative AI to review your posts and rate them as high, medium, or low quality.
Once you’ve done that, just search for the posts marked as “low” in the Post quality column. These are the ones you should improve.
Follow the tutorial here and then come back to this guide.
Step 2. Set up a prompt for generating quality improvement suggestions
In the previous tutorial, we created a prompt to have the AI help us evaluate the quality of each post.
Now, we’ll set up a new global prompt. This one will ask the AI to give us improvement suggestions for the posts marked as low quality.
First, prepare your prompt
You can use this prompt to have the AI review the post title and content. It will then give you suggestions to improve the post.
Note: Feel free to customize the prompt to fit your needs.
You are an expert SEO and content quality strategist. Evaluate the WordPress post, both its $Title$ and $Content$, which were previously rated as low quality. Based on the criteria below, provide specific and actionable suggestions to improve it: Give 1–2 bullet-point suggestions per category: Title quality: Is the title clear, engaging, and optimized for SEO? Suggest improvements to increase clicks and relevance. Depth and coverage: How can the post better satisfy user intent and fully cover the topic? Suggest missing angles, details, or examples. Structure and readability: Recommend changes to improve organization (headings, subheadings, paragraphs). Formatting and engagement: Suggest formatting improvements (bold text, bullet points, quotes, etc.) to boost clarity and reader engagement. SEO best practices: How can keyword usage, meta optimization, or natural inclusion of related terms be improved? Internal linking and media: Recommend relevant internal links, image use, or multimedia additions—with ALT text if applicable. Clarity and Flow: Point out unclear or awkward phrasing, and suggest how to improve coherence and sentence structure. Be concise, practical, and avoid generalities. The goal is to help rewrite and optimize the post for SEO and user experience.
Second, set up the global prompt
WP Sheet Editor – AI allows you to save global prompts to use them everywhere in WP Sheet Editor. You can use global prompts in spreadsheet cells, in the bulk edit tool, etc.
Go to WP Sheet Editor > AI > Settings > Prompts.
Click on Add new to create a new prompt.
Enter the prompt title in the Name field, and the prompt text in the Prompt field.
Finally, click on Save.
Once you save the prompt for generating quality improvement recommendations, a prompt slug will be generated automatically.
This slug acts as a shortcut you can use directly in spreadsheet cells. We’ll explain how to use it shortly.
Step 3. Create a field for generating improvement recommendations
Let’s create a field to store AI-generated improvement suggestions for your low-quality WordPress posts.
Because we will use this field only in the posts spreadsheet, there’s no need to install a custom fields plugin.
We will use the custom columns feature in WP Sheet Editor to do this.
Go to WP Sheet Editor > Custom columns and click on Add new column.
- Column name: Add the name of the new column here. We will call it “Improvements”.
- Database field key: We will enter “_improvements”.
- Where is the field stored in the database: Meta data (i.e. metaboxes)
- Spreadsheets: Posts
- Is read only: No
- Column format: Text
- Click on Save.
After creating the custom column, we need to display it in the posts spreadsheet.
Go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit posts to open the spreadsheet.
Open the Columns manager tool.
Make sure the Improvements column is in the Enabled side.
You can sort the columns so that the related columns are next to each other in the spreadsheet. For example, we will put the Content, Post quality, and Improvements columns next to each other.
After sorting the columns, you can save these settings for future sessions:
- Tick the Set these settings for future sessions checkbox.
- Add a name for this group of columns: Name this column settings for the future.
- Click on Apply settings.
As you can see, now we have displayed the Improvements column in the spreadsheet. We will generate the improvement recommendations in this column.
Step 4. Search for low-quality WordPress posts
Since we are dealing with low quality posts only, let’s look for all posts where Status = published and Post quality = low.
To do this, open the Search tool.
Now select these values to search for low-quality published posts:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
- Add a filter for searching for published posts:
- Field: Status
- Operator: =
- Value: Published
- Click on Add new.
- Add a filter for searching for low-quality posts:
- Field: Post quality
- Operator: =
- Value: low
- Click on Run search.
As you can see, we have filtered all the published posts whose quality is low. Now we’re ready to start generating improvement recommendations with generative AI.
Step 5. Generate recommendations to improve post quality with AI
After filtering out low quality posts, we can ask the generative AI to read the content of our low quality posts and provide us with suggestions or recommendations to improve the quality of our posts.
You have two options to do this:
Option 1 – Get improvement recommendations in the spreadsheet
You can get recommendations for improving the quality of your posts directly in the spreadsheet.
Just go to the Improvements column and add the prompt there.
Since we don’t want to type the full prompt in each box, we can use the prompt shortcut.
Since the prompt slug of the global prompt we saved above is “suggest”, let’s enter ai:suggest in the cells of the Improvements column.
The AI will start working, reading the post content and generating improvement feedback in the selected cell.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the AI has generated recommendations for us to improve the quality of our post.
We can paste the same prompt shortcut in multiple columns to generate AI improvement suggestions for several posts at the same time.
Once we have generated the improvement tips with AI, we can click on Save to apply the changes.
Option 2 – Get tips AI for improving post quality in bulk
If you want to generate quality improvement recommendations for all low-quality posts, you can use the Bulk Edit tool, which allows you to edit any field in hundreds or thousands of posts.
In this case, it allows you to use the global prompt to generate AI improvement tips in bulk.
Open the Bulk Edit tool.
Now select these values:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows)
- What field do you want to edit: Improvements
- Select type of edit: What you select here depends on what you want to do:
- If you already saved the global prompt, you can select the prompt that will appear as one of the options. In this example, our prompt appears as AI command: Suggest.
- But if you want to enter the prompt on the fly manually, you can select AI prompt, which will enable the options to select the AI provider and enter the prompt.
- AI Provider: We will use GPT-4o mini, but you can use any other provider and model.
- You can click on Show preview to see the result before executing the prompt on all posts.
- Click on Execute Now.
Step 6. Improve low-quality WordPress posts with AI
Now that you have AI-generated improvement tips for all low-quality posts, it’s time to improve those posts.
You have two options:
Option 1 – Improve posts manually
Follow the tips in the Improvements column. Then, edit your posts yourself.
You can open the post editor right from the spreadsheet popup and start applying the improvements.
Make sure to edit titles, SEO titles, descriptions, and content as needed.
Option 2 – Let AI improve posts automatically
Use a prompt like this to have AI rewrite and improve the content of your low-quality posts:
You are a professional content editor and SEO expert. Improve by applying the recommendations in the $Improvements$ field. Return only the improved post content as clean HTML, ready for the WordPress text editor. Do not include any code blocks or markdown formatting. The content must begin with a paragraph, not an <h1> tag. Ignore title suggestions — edit only the content body.
Keep these tips in mind:
- Customize: You can change the prompt to fit your needs.
- Global prompt: Save the prompt as a global prompt. This lets you use it easily in the spreadsheet by typing
ai:prompt-slug
or in the Bulk Edit tool by selecting AI Command: Prompt name. - Using full prompt: You can also use the full prompt directly in spreadsheet cells by typing
ai:
followed by the entire prompt text. In the Bulk Edit tool, select AI Prompt and add the prompt there to improve posts in bulk.
