The quality of your AI-generated metadata depends almost entirely on the prompt you use. A vague prompt produces generic output, while a specific prompt that references your content and your target keyword produces metadata that actually matches what the page delivers.
Below are two prompts designed to work with WP Sheet Editor – AI. They reference column values from your spreadsheet: $Title$, $Content$, and $Rank Math Focus Keyword$. This way, the AI reads the actual data from each row before generating the output, so every title and description is unique to that page.
AI prompt for generating Rank Math SEO titles
Use this prompt to create concise, keyword-rich SEO titles:
Generate a concise, engaging SEO title (50-60 characters) based on the $Title$ and $Content$, ensuring it includes the $Rank Math Focus Keyword$. The title should be natural and compelling. Return plain text, free of quotation marks or unnecessary punctuation.
AI prompt for generating Rank Math SEO descriptions
Use this prompt for meta descriptions:
Generate a compelling SEO description based on the $Rank Math Title$ and $Content$, including the $Rank Math Focus Keyword$. The description should be engaging, summarize the key points of the post, and encourage reader interest. Keep it under 155 characters for optimal search engine visibility. Return plain text only.
You can customize these prompts however you want.
Saving prompts as global prompts for reuse
Once you have prompts you like, save them as global prompts so you can reuse them with a simple shortcut instead of retyping the full prompt every time.
Go to WP Sheet Editor > AI > Settings > Prompts.
Once there, click on Add new.
Now you need to add the prompts:
- Name: Add prompt names that are easy to remember, like “SEO Title” and “SEO Description”. This is important because once you save the changes, each prompt will automatically generate a prompt slug that you can use as a shortcut in the spreadsheet, like
ai:seo-titleorai:seo-description. - Prompt: Enter the prompt text here.
- Click on Save.
Having both prompts saved as global shortcuts means you can switch between generating titles and descriptions in seconds, without ever opening the settings panel again.
Open the WordPress posts spreadsheet
Important: WP Sheet Editor works with posts, pages, WooCommerce products, and any other custom post type. In this example, we will use the WordPress posts spreadsheet.
Go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit posts, and you will see all your posts listed in the spreadsheet.
The columns include your standard WordPress fields (title, content, date, status) alongside Rank Math SEO columns like Rank Math Title, Rank Math Description, and Rank Math Focus Keyword, and any other custom fields added by other plugins.

Generate Rank Math SEO titles with AI in individual spreadsheet cells
With your global prompts saved, go to the Rank Math Title column and start generating SEO titles. You have two options for invoking the AI:
- Use the global prompt’s shortcut. Type
ai:prompt-slug, replacingprompt-slugwith the actual slug of your global prompt. For example, if your prompt slug isseo-title, typeai:seo-titlein the cells of the Rank Math Title column. - Use the full prompt. Type

While the AI is working, you will see a loading icon in the cell. And when it finishes, the generated SEO title appears in the cell.
You can generate multiple SEO titles across the spreadsheet by pasting the prompt or prompt shortcut into multiple cells at once.
Just select a range of cells, paste the prompt/prompt shortcut, and the AI processes each row independently using that row’s own title, content, and focus keyword.
After generating the SEO titles, click Save to apply the changes to the database.
Bulk generate Rank Math SEO titles with AI
When you need to generate SEO titles for hundreds of posts at once, the cell-by-cell method works but the Bulk Edit tool is faster.
It lets you update any field across thousands of posts in a single operation thanks to our Bulk AI API. The key is filtering your posts first so the AI only runs on the rows that actually need new titles.
Start by opening the Search tool to filter posts that are missing an SEO title.
Now select these values in the Search tool to find posts without an SEO title:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.

- Value: Leave this field empty.
- Click on Run search.
After filtering the posts you want to edit, open the Bulk Edit tool.

Generate SEO descriptions with AI in spreadsheet cells
The process for generating meta descriptions follows the same pattern as titles. Go to the Rank Math Description column and start generating AI-powered SEO descriptions. You have the same two options:
- Use the global prompt’s shortcut. Type ai:prompt-slug, replacing prompt-slug with the actual slug of your global prompt. If your prompt slug is “seo-description”, type ai:seo-description in the cells of the Rank Math Description column.
- Use the full prompt. Type ai:prompt, replacing prompt with the complete prompt text.
In this example, we will use the ai:seo-description shortcut to generate descriptions.
The AI will process the request. A loading icon appears in the cell for a few seconds, and then the generated SEO description replaces the shortcut text.
You can paste the same prompt or prompt shortcut into multiple cells to generate several SEO descriptions at once, just as you would with titles.
After generating the SEO descriptions, click Save to write the changes to your site.
Bulk generate Rank Math SEO descriptions using AI
To bulk generate descriptions, first filter for posts that are missing them. Open the Search tool.
Now select these values to filter posts without SEO descriptions:

How do I review AI-generated SEO titles and descriptions before they go live?
You have two built-in review mechanisms. For cell-level generation, the AI output appears directly in the spreadsheet cell. You can read and edit it inline before clicking Save. Unsaved changes are visually marked. For bulk generation, the Show preview button in the Bulk Edit tool displays a sample of what the AI will produce across your selected rows. If the preview does not meet your standards, close the tool, adjust the prompt in your global prompt settings, and preview again. Nothing is written to the database until you click Execute Now.
Can I use different prompts for different post categories or post types?
Yes. You can save multiple global prompts, each with its own slug. For example, you might have ai:seo-title-blog for blog posts and ai:seo-title-products for WooCommerce products.
