JetEngine – How to Bulk Convert or Change Post Type

In a previous post, we showed you how to bulk edit JetEngine post types. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to bulk convert or change custom post types from JetEngine.

You can convert any JetEngine custom post type into WordPress posts, WordPress pages, WooCommerce products, etc. You can also change any JetEngine custom post type into another post type created with JetEngine.

The great thing about it is that you don’t have to open and edit your custom posts individually. That would take a lot of time. Instead, we show you how to bulk convert custom posts using a spreadsheet inside WordPress.

We’ll use the Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types Spreadsheet by WP Sheet Editor. It allows you to bulk update posts, pages, or any other custom post type added by plugins like JetEngine.

After installing the plugin, you need to install the JetEngine Extension, which will make the WP Sheet Editor and JetEngine plugins fully compatible.

Now you need to follow these simple steps to bulk convert custom post types.

1- Set up your custom post spreadsheet

Important. If you already set up the spreadsheet, open it, and go to the next step.

For this example, we’ve created a custom post type called “File”.

To set up the spreadsheet for this custom post type, you need to go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup Spreadsheet and select the post type you’ll edit in the spreadsheet, in this case, it’s File.

Now just click Save.

After that, select the columns you want to display in the spreadsheet. Move the columns you don’t want to see in the spreadsheet to the Disabled side.

Finally, scroll down and click Save.

You’ll see all posts displayed as rows and all files displayed as columns. All custom files will appear and work according to their types: checkboxes, dropdowns, number fields, simple texts, media fields, etc.

2- Convert JetEngine custom posts individually in the spreadsheet

If you want to convert posts individually using the spreadsheet, you just need to go to the Post Type column in the spreadsheet.

Once there, you just need to change the values to convert these custom posts into WordPress posts, WooCommerce products, or into other custom post types added by JetEngine or any other plugin.

Once you’re done changing all post types, click Save.

3- Select the custom posts you’ll convert

You have several options to select the custom posts you’ll edit.

1. Open the Bulk Edit tool and edit all posts. Go to the third step.
2. Search for posts and bulk edit the search results.
3. Select the posts manually.

a) How to search for posts by taxonomy term or keyword

If you want to search for posts and bulk edit the search results, you need to first open the Search tool.

For example, you can search for posts by keyword or category (if you created a category taxonomy with JetEngine).

• Contains keyword – Enter any word and the plugin will search for all the custom posts containing it in their titles.
• Enter File Category – This is a dynamic field that works with all taxonomies and terms. In this case, we can search for posts by category.
• Click Run Search.

Once you do that, you’ll see all the filtered custom posts displayed in the spreadsheet. You can open the Bulk Edit tool and go to section 4 of this tutorial.

b) How to select posts manually

If you want to select posts manually, you need to use the checkbox picker in the first column to select the posts and then open the Bulk Edit tool.

After selecting the posts you’ll edit, you can proceed to bulk change the post type for all the custom posts.

4- How to convert bulk convert JetEngine custom post types

To bulk convert or change post type for all the posts you’ve selected, you need to start by opening the Bulk Edit tool.

After that, you need to select these values to bulk change the post type:

• Select the posts that you want to edit: Edit all the posts from my current search (including non-visible values).
  • Here you can select to edit all the search results from your current search, edit all the manually selected posts, or even search for posts. We’ll select to edit the search results from our current search.
• What field do you want to edit: Post Type
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Select the new post type from the dropdown.
• Click Execute Now.

After that, all the selected post types will be moved from the spreadsheet and converted into the new post type.

That was a piece of cake!

As you see, bulk converting JetEngine custom post types into WordPress posts, WooCommerce products, or any other custom post type is really easy!

You don’t need to convert posts individually. Instead, you can do it in bulk, and the best part is that your server won’t be crashed because WP Sheet Editor will apply the changes in batches.
