Tutor LMS – How to Export and Import Courses using CSV

We will use the WP Sheet Editor plugin, which allows you to view and manage posts, pages, and custom post types (courses, products, etc.) using a spreadsheet on WordPress.

You need to follow the steps in the sections below in order to export and import Tutor LMS courses with CSV files.

1- Generate a spreadsheet for Tutor LMS courses

The first thing to do is generate a spreadsheet for bulk managing your Tutor LMS courses.

In a previous tutorial, we included a section called “Set up a spreadsheet for Tutor LMS courses” where we show you how to do it.

After generating the spreadsheet, you will be ready to export and import courses with a few clicks.

2- Export Tutor LMS courses to a CSV file

WP Sheet Editor allows you to export your Tutor LMS courses to a CSV file, which you can open with Excel, Google Sheets, or any other CSV editor.

You need to start by opening the Export tool.

Now you need to select the following values in order to download your Tutor LMS courses in a CSV file to your computer:

  1. Select the columns you want to export. You can select specific columns by typing the column names, all active columns, or all columns.
  2. Select the rows you want to update. You can export all the rows (courses), all the courses from a specific search, or all the manually selected courses in the spreadsheet.
  3. Select the app you’ll use to open the CSV file. You can select Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other options. The plugin will generate a compatible CSV file for these software programs.
  4. Add a name for this export. You can add a name for this export; this is optional.
  5. Click on Start new export.

After doing this, you will download a CSV file to your computer, which you can open with the selected CSV file editor.

After exporting our online courses to a CSV file, we can edit existing courses, add new courses, update course pricing, course duration, etc.

Then, we’ll be ready to import our Tutor LMS courses from the CSV file into WordPress.

3- Import Tutor LMS courses from a CSV file

In order to import Tutor LMS courses from a CSV file into a WordPress site, we need to first prepare the CSV file we will import.

This CSV file may contain changes to existing courses or new courses.

Once we’re ready to import our CSV file, we need to open the Import tool.

Next, you need to select the CSV file you want to import by selecting these values:

  • Source: CSV file from my computer
  • Click on Choose File and select the CSV you want to import.
  • Click on Next.

Now, you need to select the columns you want to import.

You can Import all the columns or Select individual columns to import.

After that, you need to select how you will import your Tutor LMS course data.

In this example, we will Create new items and update existing items, and we will match the courses by ID.

Once done, click on Next.

Finally, you’ll see a preview of what the data will look like on the spreadsheet.

If everything is OK, you need to click on The preview is fine, start import.
