In this tutorial, we will show you how to add prefix or suffix to WooCommerce product titles.
There are many reasons you may need to add a prefix or suffix to your WooCommerce product titles:
- Seasonal promotions: If you’re running a holiday sale or a special event, you might want to add a prefix like “Holiday Sale:” or a suffix like ” – Summer Edition” to highlight products specifically for that promotion.
- Product versions: When you have multiple versions of a product, adding a suffix such as ” – New Version” or ” – Updated” helps customers distinguish between different iterations.
- Stock status: To inform customers about the availability of products, you might add a suffix like ” – In Stock” or ” – Pre-Order” to give immediate clarity on the product status.
- Category tags: If you have products that fall into specific categories or collections, adding a prefix like “Exclusive:” or “Bestseller:” can draw attention to these special groupings.
- Branding or manufacturer information: To emphasize the brand or manufacturer, you could add a prefix like “Nike -” or “Samsung -” to product titles, making it clear and consistent for customers browsing your store.
However, it can be really boring and time-consuming to edit hundreds of products with the normal WP editor.
We know how that feels because we’ve been there. It’s a pain in the neck to edit product by product, and it’s even harder to find all the products you want to edit.
That’s why in this entry we’ll show you how to add a message at the beginning or at the end of product titles.
Install WP Sheet Editor
As you may have noticed, the normal WP editor doesn’t allow you to apply multiple changes to hundreds of products at once. That’s the reason you need WP Sheet Editor.
This plugin helps you apply changes to lots of products with a few clicks. So you need to install it to be able to add a message at the beginning or at the end of thousands of product titles.
You can skip this step if you have it installed and activated.
You can download the plugin here:
Download WooCommerce Products Spreadsheet Plugin - or - Check the features
After installing the plugin and activating your license, you need to follow the steps below.
1- Open the products spreadsheet
To open the WooCommerce product spreadsheet, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit products.
You will see all your products displayed in the spreadsheet.
2- Search for the products you will edit
The Search tool allows you to filter all your products using any field as a search filter.
You can use it to find products by keyword, category, price, stock, stock status, date, author, vendor, regular price, sale price, etc.
Although you can search for your products using any field as search criteria, in this example we are going to search for all products that have a sale price, because we want to add a prefix or suffix that tells our customers that the product is on sale.
To do this, we will select these values in the Search tool:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and select these values:
- Field: Sale price
- Operator: != (not equal to)
- Value: Leave this field empty.
- Click on Run search.
Once you run the search, you will see all the products matching the search filters displayed on the spreadsheet. In this case, we have filtered all the products that have sale price.
3- Open the bulk edit tool
The Bulk Edit tool allows you to edit any field on thousands of products at once.
In this case, it will allow us to add prefix or suffix to all our filtered products.
Option 1 – Add suffix to product titles in bulk
If you want to add a suffix to the product titles (i.e. add text to the end of your current WooCommerce product titles), you need to select these values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Title
- Select type of edit: Append
- Enter the value to append to the existing value: Add the text you want to add at the end of your product titles. In this case, we’ll add this: ” – On sale!”
- Important – Make sure to add spaces if you need it so that the text is not added without spaces.
- Select the Edit only parent products option.
- Click on Execute Now.
As you can see in the screenshot below, we have edited our WooCommerce product titles and added a suffix to let our customers know that the products are on sale.
Option 2 – Add prefix to product titles in bulk
If you want to add a prefix to the product titles (i.e. add text before your current WooCommerce product titles), you need to select these values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Title
- Select type of edit: Prepend
- Enter the value to append to the existing value: Add the text you want to add at the end of your product titles. In this case, we’ll add this: “SALE: ”
- Important – Make sure to add spaces if you need it so that the text is not added without spaces.
- Select the Edit only parent products option.
- Click on Execute Now.
As you can see in the screenshot below, we have edited our WooCommerce product titles and added a prefix to let our customers know that the products are on sale.
You can easily apply all these and multiple other changes to thousands of products with a few clicks using WP Sheet Editor.
