WooCommerce – How to Add Prefix or Suffix to Product Titles

Sometimes your client may ask you to make some changes to product titles. For example, you may be asked to add a discount message at the beginning or at the end of the product titles.

However, it can be really boring and time-consuming to edit hundreds of products with the normal WP editor. We know how that feels because we’ve been there. It’s a pain in the neck to edit product by product, and it’s even harder to find all the products you want to edit.

That’s why in this entry we’ll show you how to add a message at the beginning or at the end of product titles.

The key step: Install WP Sheet Editor

As you may have noticed, the normal WP editor doesn’t allow you to apply multiple changes to hundreds of products at once. That’s the reason you need WP Sheet Editor.

This plugin helps you apply changes to lots of products with a few clicks. So you need to install it to be able to add a message at the beginning or at the end of thousands of product titles.

You can skip this step if you have it installed and activated.

When you open the plugin, you’ll see a spreadsheet with all your products and all their info.

1- Add prefix or suffix to all products in an entire category

Maybe your client has asked you to edit the products and add a message saying “On Sale!” to its titles. So for that you need to take some really simple steps using WP Sheet Editor.

a) Open the “Apply changes in bulk” tool.

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once.

b) Hit the “Select rows” button.

This button will open a search tool to filter your products and find them by category.

c) Look for the product category.

Finding products by category is really simple with WP Sheet Editor; you just need to write the category name in the “Enter product category” field. Then you need to hit the “Run search” button and that’s all.

d) Prepend or append the message.

To prepend means to add a message at the beginning; to append means to add the message at the end, so you need to do the following in the bulk updates tool.

• Check the “I understand it will update the posts from my field” checkbox.
• Select “Title” as the field you’ll edit.
• Select “Prepend” if you want to add a message at the beginning, OR choose “Append” if you want to add a message at the end. This selection is to be made in the “Select type of edit” field.
• Hit the “Execute now button” and it’ll be done.

2- Add prefix or suffix to all out of stock products

Maybe you want to let your customers know about products out of stock by adding a message saying “This product is out of stock” to their titles.

With WP Sheet Editor it’s really simple, you just need to follow these simple steps:

a) Open the “Apply changes in bulk” tool.

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once.

b) Hit the “Select rows” button.

This button will open a search tool to filter your products and find them by category.

c) Look for the out of stock products.

To find all out of stock products, you need to check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox. This will open the fields you need to look for the out of stock products.

• Write “_stock_status” in “Field key”.
• Select the “equal” symbol.
• Write “outofstock” in the “Value” field.
• Hit the “Run search” button.

d) Prepend or append the message.

To prepend means to add a message at the beginning; to append means to add the message at the end, so you need to do the following in the bulk updates tool.

• Check the “I understand it will update the posts from my field” checkbox.
• Select “Title” as the field you’ll edit.
• Select “Prepend” if you want to add a message at the beginning, OR choose “Append” if you want to add a message at the end. This selection is to be made in the “Select type of edit” field.
• Hit the “Execute now button” and it’ll be done.

3- Add prefix or suffix to all product titles by price

Sometimes you may want to promote some products at low prices. For example, you can promote the products that cost less than 10 dollars. So you need to find all those products and add the message. For that, you need to follow these steps:

a) Open the “Apply changes in bulk” tool.

This tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products at once.

b) Hit the “Select rows” button.

This button will open a search tool to filter your products and find them by category.

c) Look for the products that cost less than 10 dollars.

To find all the products that cost less than 10 dollars, you need to check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox. This will open the fields you need to look for the out of stock products.

• Write “_price” in “Field key”.
• Select the “less than” symbol.
• Write “10” in the “Value” field.
• Hit the “Run search” button.

d) Prepend or append the message.

To prepend means to add a message at the beginning; to append means to add the message at the end, so you need to do the following in the bulk updates tool.

• Check the “I understand it will update the posts from my field” checkbox.
• Select “Title” as the field you’ll edit.
• Select “Prepend” if you want to add a message at the beginning, OR choose “Append” if you want to add a message at the end. This selection is to be made in the “Select type of edit” field.
• Enter the message in the “Enter the value to prepend/append to the existing value” field.
• Hit the “Execute now button” and it’ll be done.
