WordPress – How to Bulk Edit Envira Galleries (Complete Guide)

This is a complete guide on how to bulk edit Envira galleries in WordPress, using an intuitive spreadsheet.

The Envira Gallery plugin allows you to create galleries in WordPress, and share them on your posts or pages using shortcodes.

However, you can’t apply bulk changes. For example, you can’t change Alt text for your gallery images without having to open every gallery. You can’t edit the gallery image’s caption either.

Fortunately, you can bulk edit Envira Galleries using the WP Sheet Editor – Post Types plugin. It allows you to edit posts, pages, courses, directories, listings, and in this case Envira Galleries using a spreadsheet.

This is great becuause you can bulk manage all your galleries in one place.

What you need to bulk edit Envira Galleries

First, you need the Envira Gallery plugin, which allows you to create the galleries in WordPress.

Second, you need the WP Sheet Editor plugin, which allows you to manage any WordPress post type in an intuitive table.

Third, you need the WP Sheet Editor – Envira extension, which adds compatibility between WP Sheet Editor and Envira. This is for users who have purchased the plugin.

Optionally, if you have installed and activated your WP Sheet Editor license, you’ll see a pop-up that will prompt you to download the extension when you set up the galleries spreadsheet (more on that later).

After installing the plugins and the extension, you can proceed to bulk manage your galleries in a spreadsheet.

Set up the Envira Gallery spreadsheet

The first thing is to generate the spreadsheet where you will manage the galleries.

Go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup spreadsheet.

Select the Galleries post type.

Click on Save.

Now you need to select the columns you want to view in the spreadsheet, and click on Save to generate the spreadsheet.

Now you will see all your Envira galleries in a spreadsheet.

Every row is a gallery and every column is a field.

How to edit Envira galleries in the spreadsheet

You will notice that, for every image in your galleries, WP Sheet Editor will create a set of columns:

• Gallery: File X: Source
• Gallery: File X: Title
• Gallery: File X: Alt text
• Gallery: File X: Caption

You can use these columns to apply changes to any gallery image.

For example, you can see below that we have edited the alt text and caption for several gallery images.

Once you change the values in the spreadsheet, click on Save to apply the changes.

This is a great way to edit Envira galleries, without having to open a lot of pages and making lots of clicks.

You just need to edit the galleries as if you were using Excel or Google Sheets, and save the changes.

You can save a lot of time because you manage galleries in one place.

How to bulk edit Envira galleries

If what you want is edit envira galleries in bulk, here’s how you can do it using the Bulk Edit tool in WP Sheet Editor.

First, you need to select which galleries you will edit.

You can manually select the galleries by using the checkbox picker.

Optionally, you can use the Search tool to find specific galleries. This tool allows you to find galleries by keyword, status, date, etc.

In this example, we will find the Envira galleries by keyword.

Just enter the keyword you want to find in the Contains keyword field, and click on Run search.

As you see here, the search filter has been applied and all the galleries containing the selected keyword are shown in the spreadsheet.

Now you need to open the Bulk Edit tool, which allows you to bulk update Envira galleries with a few clicks.

The Bulk Edit tool allows you to edit alt text for specific images, change caption for all selected images, replace images from your Envira galleries, etc.

In this example, we show you how to bulk edit alt text for Image 1 of all the selected gallery images:

• Select the rows that you want to update: This will depend on how you selected the images you will edit: manually or from a search.
• What field do you want to edit: Select the column you want to update, in this case, we’ll select the Gallery: File 1: Alt column.
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the new value here. In this case, we will enter a new alt text for all the selected gallery images.
• Click on Execute now.
