WooCommerce – How to Bulk Delete Duplicate Products (Title, SKU)

Let’s see how to bulk delete duplicate WooCommerce products.

Importing products from Excel or CSV files is a common practice, but it’s easy to make mistakes that result in thousands of duplicate products. Without the right tools, managing these duplicates can be a daunting task.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to bulk delete duplicate WooCommerce products with the same title using the WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Products plugin.

Install WP Sheet Editor

You can skip this step if you have the plugin installed and activated.

Important: Avoid 404 errors when deleting duplicate products!

To avoid showing 404 errors after removing duplicates, you need to create 301 redirections to the remaining products.

This is what you need:

1. Install the Redirection plugin to create the redirection links.
2. Install the WP Sheet Editor – Redirection extension.

Once both the plugin and the extension are installed on your website, you can run the “Remove Duplicates” feature freely because our plugin will automatically create the 301 redirections to the remaining products.

A backup is recommended to avoid any problems.

You can open the products’ spreadsheet by going to WP Sheet Editor > Edit products.

You’ll see a spreadsheet with all your products and their complete data.

As you can see, we have some duplicate products on our WooCommerce store.

Option 1. Delete duplicate products by title

Let’s see how to remove all the products with the same title and content.

You need to start by opening the Bulk Edit tool.

Select these values to bulk remove all your duplicate WooCommerce products:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows).
• What field do you want to edit: Title
• Select type of edit: Remove duplicates with same title and content
• Which duplicates do you want to delete: You have these two options:
  • Delete the newest items and keep the oldest items
  • Delete the oldest items and keep the newest items
• Select the Edit only parent products option.
• Click on Execute now

Option 2. Delete duplicate products by SKU

Let’s see how to bulk delete products with the same SKU.

Start by opening the Bulk Edit tool.

Then just set these values:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows).
• What field do you want to edit: SKU
• Select type of edit: Remove duplicates
• Which duplicates do you want to delete: You have these two options:
  • Delete the newest items and keep the oldest items
  • Delete the oldest items and keep the newest items
• Select the Edit only parent products option.
• Click on Execute now

Now you will not have products with repeated SKUs.

Option 3. Find and delete specific duplicate products

WP Sheet Editor allows you to search for products with specific title, description or short description using advanced search filters.

In this example, we will show you how to find and remove duplicate products with specific titles.

First, we need to open the Search tool.

Now you need to tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and select the following values:

• Field: Title
• Operator: =
• Value: Enter the title here.

Click on Run search.

As you can see, all the products containing the selected title have been filtered and displayed on the spreadsheet.

Now open the Bulk Edit tool, which will allow you to delete duplicates and keep one.

Once you’re in the Bulk Edit tool, you need to select the following values:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (including non-visible rows).
• What field do you want to edit: Title
• Select type of edit: Remove duplicates
• Which duplicates do you want to delete: You have these two options:
  • Delete the newest items and keep the oldest item
  • Delete the oldest items and keep the newest item
• Select the Edit only variations option.
• Click on Execute now

Option 4. Find and remove specific duplicate products

If you want to search for duplicate products by title, description or short descr

If instead of removing products, you want to bulk delete duplicate variations (with the same title or SKU), you can do it with WP Sheet Editor.

Open the Bulk Edit tool.

Once you’re in the Bulk Edit tool, you need to set these values to delete your duplicate products:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows).
• What field do you want to edit: SKU or Title
• Select type of edit: Remove duplicates
• Which duplicates do you want to delete: You have these two options:
  • Delete the newest items and keep the oldest items
  • Delete the oldest items and keep the newest items
• Select the Edit only variations option.
• Click on Execute now

After these easy steps, all your duplicate variations will be removed.
