However, throughout the years we’ve created hundreds of categories and now we need to rename them. However, we don’t want to open them one by one in order to change their names because that’s going to take us several hours. We wish we could avoid sitting for hours and just rename them.
That’s the reason we want to show you how easy it is to rename hundreds or thousands of blog categories or tags using the Categories, Tags, Product Attributes, Taxonomies Spreadsheet plugin. It completely simplifies the way you manage your categories, tags, etc., by letting you edit them in an intuitive and easy-to-use spreadsheet.

Once you install and activate the plugin, just follow these simple steps.
1- Open the spreadsheet you’ll use
Go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit categories, tags, attributes, taxonomies to open the spreadsheet. Now you need to decide if you want to open the categories or the tags spreadsheet.
- Blog categories – Click on Edit categories
- Blog tags – Click on Edit tags
2- Open the Bulk Edit tool
Once you have opened the spreadsheet you’ll use, you need to open the Bulk Edit tool, which allows you to edit thousands of categories or tags in just some minutes. It’s located on the plugins toolbar, so just click on it.
3- Filter the categories you’ll rename
You can filter the categories you want to rename. For this, you need to select the I want to search rows to update option in the Select the rows that you want to update dropdown.
Now you just need to enter a keyword in the Contains keyword field and click on Run search to filter your products.
4- Rename your filtered categories or tags
To rename your filtered categories or tags, you need to select these values in the Bulk Edit tool.
- Select the rows that you want to update: I want to search rows to update
- What field do you want to edit: Name
- Select type of edit: Set Value
- Replace existing value with this value: Enter the new name in this value
- Click on Execute now
Done!
