WooCommerce – Copy Product Content to Short Description and vice-versa

In this tutorial, we show you how to copy the product content to the short description in WooCommerce.

Sometimes your customers ask you to complete the product descriptions using the text from the short description, or to move the long description to the short description section.

In that case, in order for you to copy the content into the description, you have to go through your products one by one copying and pasting the information into the correct fields.

This is how the normal WP editor helps you to do it.

However, it will take you lots of hours to do the job.

That’s why in this tutorial we’ll show you how easy it is to copy from product content to short description and vice-versa using WP Sheet Editor.

Follow these simple steps to copy content to short description and vice-versa.

1- Install WP Sheet Editor

2- Copy product content to product short description

If you want to copy from product content to the description field, you need to take some easy steps we explain to you here:

a) Open the Bulk Edit tool

This powerful tool helps you apply changes to hundreds of products with a few clicks.

b) Filter your products

Select the I want to search rows to update option in the Select the rows that you want to update dropdown.

This will open a search tool for you to be able to look for all the products you’ll edit.

For example, you can look for products containing a specific keyword, category, attribute or tag, price, keyword in description or content, etc.

• To search for products containing a keyword you simply need to write the keyword in the “Contains keyword” field. After that, just hit the “Run search” button.
• To search for products by category, attribute, or tag, you need to write it in the “Enter Tags” field. Notice that you use the same field to look for product categories, attributes and tags. After that, just hit the “Run search” button.

c) Copy product content to its description

To do that, you need to set these values in the bulk updates tool:

• Select the rows that you want to update: I want to search rows to update
• What field do you want to edit: Short Description
• Select type of edit: Copy from other columns
• Copy from this column: $post_content$ (Content)
• Click on Run search

3- Copy short descriptions to product content

If you want to copy from short descriptions to the long content field, you need to take some easy steps we explain to you here:
