Search WooCommerce Product SEO Titles by Character Length

When potential customers search for products on Google, your organic ranking determines whether you make a sale or lose out to a competitor. Your visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs) relies heavily on one crucial factor: your on-page SEO, specifically your meta titles.

If your WooCommerce product SEO titles are optimized and compelling, you have a much better chance of ranking on the first page and earning a high click-through rate (CTR). However, if your SEO titles are too long, Google will truncate them with an ellipsis (…), cutting off important keywords and making your listings look unprofessional. If they are too short, you are wasting valuable digital real estate that could be used to target long-tail keywords.

The SEO Golden Rule: An optimal SEO meta title should generally be between 50 and 60 characters.

If you are serious about increasing your e-commerce revenue, you must pay attention to your product SEO titles. But this raises a major question: “How do I know which of my thousands of WooCommerce products have SEO titles that are too long or too short?”

Checking every single product manually using the default WooCommerce dashboard (or even with plugins like Yoast SEO and Rank Math) takes hundreds of hours. In this tutorial, we will show you how to instantly filter and edit thousands of products based on their exact SEO title length in just a few minutes.

1. Install the WooCommerce Products Spreadsheet Plugin

To safely and quickly query your database for specific character lengths, we will use the WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Products plugin. This powerful tool completely bypasses the slow default WordPress editor by displaying your entire catalog in a lightning-fast, Excel-like spreadsheet where you can apply massive changes freely.

Once the plugin is installed and activated on your site, open the spreadsheet interface by navigating to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Products.

2. Open the Advanced Search Tool

The Search tool helps you filter your products in several dynamic ways. You can find them by keyword, category, attribute, tag, or—most importantly for this tutorial—by specific SEO metadata values.

You can open the filtering panel by clicking on the Search button located on the plugin’s top toolbar.

3. Filter Your Products by SEO Title Length

Once the search popup is open, you can configure the exact character parameters you want to audit.

Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox to reveal the dynamic search operators, and input the following values:

Configure the search filters to find WooCommerce products by their SEO title character length

  • Field key: SEO Title
  • Operator: Select CHARACTER LENGTH < (less than) or CHARACTER LENGTH > (greater than).
  • Value: Enter your target number of characters.
    • Example A (Finding truncated titles): To find titles that are too long for Google, select CHARACTER LENGTH > and enter 60.
    • Example B (Finding thin titles): To find titles that are too short and need more descriptive keywords, select CHARACTER LENGTH < and enter 30.

Now, click on the Run search button to filter your catalog.

4. Edit Your Filtered SEO Titles Directly in the Spreadsheet

The spreadsheet will automatically reload and display only the products that match your specific search criteria.

For example, if you searched for titles longer than 60 characters, every single product currently visible on the grid is an item that is likely getting cut off in Google search results. This gives you a clean, focused workspace to conduct your SEO audit.

Now, you can easily rewrite the SEO titles without ever leaving the page. Just scroll to the SEO Title column, click into the cells, and type your new, fully optimized, keyword-rich titles. You can use your keyboard’s arrow keys to rapidly move down the list.

Once you are happy with your updated metadata, simply click the Save button on the top toolbar to apply the changes instantly to your live store.

Optimize Your E-Commerce Store in Record Time

By using WP Sheet Editor, you eliminate the guesswork and tedious manual labor of e-commerce SEO. Auditing your title tags by character length ensures your products always look professional in search engines, helping you maximize your organic traffic and boost your sales.
