You have thousands of images in WordPress. Some of them have been used just to try how they look on your site, some others have been used for blog entries, even others have been used for products. Therefore, if you want to find specific images, you need to search for them among all other thousands of images you may have in your Media Library.
The problem is that right now you just need to change all products containing the color attribute “Black” or the size attribute “Large”. Of course, with the normal WP media library editor, you can’t do that. If you want to do it, you can check all your products one by one (which will take you a lot of time), or you can use any strange PHP snippet you can find in Google.
But we have great news. We want to show you how to find all your images by product attribute in seconds. You won’t have to spend hours or use snippets. You’ll just use some simple search fields and see all your filtered images on a spreadsheet. Just follow these simple steps.
1- Install the Media Library Spreadsheet plugin
This plugin simplifies the way you manage your media library. You can see, filter and edit all your files on a spreadsheet. It contains a great Bulk Edit tool and an advanced Search tool. Something you can also do is export your files to a CSV file and edit it with Excel or Google Sheets.
You can download the plugin here: Download Media Library Spreadsheet Plugin - or - Check the features
Once installed and activated, please go to Sheet Editor > Edit Media to open the spreadsheet.
2- Open the “Search” tool to filter your images by product attribute
Instead of spending hours trying to locate your images by product attribute, you can do it quickly using the plugins Search tool. It allows you to do advanced searches in seconds using some simple fields. Click on it on the toolbar.
3- Filter your images by product attribute
Once you open the Search tool, you need to follow these steps in order to filter your images by product attribute.
- Enter the product attribute in the Taxonomies in associated post
- Tick the Enable advanced filters
- Field key: Format
- Operator: CONTAINS
- Value: image
