WooCommerce: Bulk Edit Category SEO Title and Meta Description

If you need to bulk edit WooCommerce category SEO titles and meta descriptions, you can use WP Sheet Editor to make changes directly in a spreadsheet or import updated metadata from a CSV file.

This is useful when you need to update SEO titles and descriptions for multiple product categories, whether you’re targeting new keywords, improving existing metadata, or applying changes from an SEO audit.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you both methods using WP Sheet Editor – Taxonomy Terms.

1. Install WP Sheet Editor – Taxonomy Terms

We’ll use the WP Sheet Editor – Taxonomy Terms plugin to manage WooCommerce product categories in a spreadsheet, including their SEO titles and meta descriptions.

After installing and activating the plugin, go to Sheet Editor > Edit Product Categories.

You’ll see your product categories in a spreadsheet where you can edit their information without opening each category individually.

Method 1: Edit WooCommerce Category SEO Titles and Meta Descriptions in a Spreadsheet

If you need to update SEO titles and meta descriptions for several product categories, you can make all the changes in the spreadsheet.

1. Locate the SEO Title and SEO Description columns. The column names will depend on your SEO plugin.
2. Enter the new titles and meta descriptions for the categories you want to update.
3. Click Save to apply your changes.

You can edit as many categories as needed before saving. This is particularly helpful when reviewing category metadata individually without switching between multiple WordPress editing screens.

Method 2: Bulk Import WooCommerce Category SEO Titles and Meta Descriptions from CSV

You can also import category SEO titles and meta descriptions from a CSV file.

For example, if you’ve reviewed your category pages using Screaming Frog or another SEO tool, you can prepare the updated metadata in Excel or Google Sheets and import it into WooCommerce.

Your CSV file should contain the SEO titles, meta descriptions, and a field you can use to match each row with an existing product category.

1. Open the Import Tool

In the product categories spreadsheet, click Import on the toolbar.

2. Upload Your CSV File

Select the following options:

• Source: CSV file from my computer
• CSV file: Click Select file and upload your CSV file.

Click Next to continue.

3. Select the Columns to Import

Next, choose which columns you want to import.

If your CSV contains only the information you want to update, click Import all the columns.

Otherwise, select the category matching field, SEO title, and meta description columns. This helps prevent unwanted changes to other category fields.

4. Match the CSV Rows with Existing WooCommerce Categories

Now you need to tell WP Sheet Editor which existing categories should be updated.

Configure the import settings as follows:

• Do you want to update or create items: Update existing items, ignore new items
• Field 1: CSV Field “Name” → WP Field “Name”

Make sure your SEO title and meta description columns are mapped to the corresponding fields.

Note: If several categories share the same name, use a unique identifier when available to avoid matching the wrong category.

Click Next.

5. Preview and Import the SEO Metadata

Before completing the import, check the preview to make sure the category information and SEO fields are correct.

If everything looks correct, click The preview is fine, start import.

WP Sheet Editor will update the matching product categories using the SEO metadata from your CSV file.
