Easy Digital Downloads – Bulk Edit Bundles [Complete Guide]

In this guide, we will show you how to bulk edit the most important fields from Easy Digital Downloads product bundles using a spreadsheet inside WordPress.

If you want to edit prices or add variable prices to many of your download bundles on WordPress, you need to have enough time and a lot of patience to do the same procedure many times.

That’s why we recommend using WP Sheet Editor to manage your EDD products in a spreadsheet.

With this plugin, you can:

• Edit the status of hundreds of packages
• Modify download notes in bulk for all your packages
• Edit feature images with a few clicks
• Modify the packaged product files
• Edit your variable prices for hundreds of bundled products

Here are the steps you need to follow to bulk edit EDD packages using a spreadsheet.

1. Install the WP Sheet Editor plugin

You can skip this step if you have the plugin installed and activated.

Once you install the plugin, you’ll see a spreadsheet containing all your Easy Digital Downloads products and their complete information.

You’ll also find a toolbar with the following tools:

• Add new – This button helps you create new rows in the spreadsheet.
• Search – With this tool, you can search specific rows using different search terms.
• Bulk Edit – This is a powerful tool that helps you apply changes to thousands of rows at once.
• Duplicate – This button helps you create hundreds of copies out of a row.
• Locate cell – Here you can enter a specific cell content, and it will take you right to that cell.

Optional – Edit the amount of EDD products you can add to your bundles.

WP Sheet Editor allows you to select how many products you want to add to your bundles.

By default, the spreadsheet will show you three columns to add three products to your bundles, but you can increase or decrease that number.

Just go to Settings > Advanced Settings on the top toolbar.

Now go to EDD Sheet and select the number of products to add to the bundles in How many products do you add to the bundles? And click on Save.

2. How to search for EDD bundle products

The spreadsheet will show you all your downloads, and maybe you need to select the bundles you want to edit only.

This is easily done using the plugin’s Search tool, located on the toolbar.

Once you open the Search tool, you’ll find different fields you can use in order to make your search more specific:

• Contains keyword – Use this field if you want to look for all downloads containing a specific keyword.
• Author – Use these fields to search for all products created by a specific person.
• Enter Download Categories or Tags – Enter any of these parameters.
• Enable advanced filters – This checkbox opens advanced filters to search for your downloads.

In this case, you need to use the Enable advanced filters checkbox to search for the bundles.

Set these values to search for all your bundles:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox
• Select Edd Product Type as the Field key
• Select = in the Operator field
• Enter the Value “Bundle”
• Hit the Run search button.

Once your bundles have been filtered, you can see the filters applied on the left side of the spreadsheet.

3. Edit the bundle products in the spreadsheet

To edit the EDD bundles individually:

• Make all the changes you want in the cells. You can change prices, featured images, status, titles, etc.
• Click Save.

This way, you don’t have to open each product you want to edit, you can apply individual changes in one place, and you only have to save once.

4. Bulk edit bundle products

Now let’s use the Bulk Edit tool, located in the plugin’s toolbar, to edit fields massively.

The following are some options to edit your EDD bundle products in bulk:

a) Edit Edd price in bulk

Setting the same price for hundreds of EDD products is very easy by following these steps:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Edd price
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the new price amount without symbols (like $ or €)
• Click on Execute now

Here you can see that the changes were successfully applied.

b) Bulk enable or disable variable pricing

If you want to apply different prices to your bundles, you will need to enable the “Variable pricing” option, which you can do in just minutes by entering the following values in the Bulk Edit tool:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Variable pricing
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Check the box for “yes” or leave it empty for “no”
• Click on Execute now

After applying the changes, they will be reflected in the spreadsheet.

c) Change variable price name (price assignment)

Adding a name to your prices allows you to help your customers better understand what each bundle is about, so we show you how you can edit this field in bulk:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Edd variable price: Name: 1 (you can edit any of your variable price names the same way, just make sure to enter the right variable price name number)
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the name you want to give to the selected variable price
• Click on Execute now

Now we can see that the same variable price name was added to all selected EDD bundle products.

d) Update variable price amount

To set the same price for the same variable price of your bundles, you must follow these steps:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Edd variable price: Amount: 1 (you can edit any of your variable price amounts the same way, just make sure to enter the right variable price amount number)
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the new variable price amount without symbols (like $ or €)
• Click on Execute now

We can see after applying the changes that the same price for the same variable price has been successfully applied.

e) Select the same product for all bundles

If there is any product that you want to include in all your bundles, you can add it easily by entering the following values in the Bulk Edit tool:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Bundle product: 0: 2 (you can start editing from bundle product “2” since “1” is the same as the main EDD product)
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Select the product you want to add from the drop-down menu list
• Click on Execute now

In the spreadsheet, you will see that the same product was added to all selected bundles.

f) Set the same bundle price assignment for specific bundle products

You may need to assign the same Price assignment or also called Required price to a specific product in your bundles, you can do it with the values below:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Bundle Required Price: 0: 2
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter price ID
• Click on Execute now

As you can see, the same price assignment has been assigned to the products in the selected bundles.

g) Bulk add download instructions

If you want to add general download instructions to all your bundles, just follow these steps:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all rows from my current search (even non-visible rows)
• What field do you want to edit: Edd Product Notes
• Select type of edit: Set value
• Replace existing value with this value: Enter the download instructions.
• Click on Execute now

Here you can see that the download note has been successfully uploaded to all bundles.
