Use AI to Bulk Edit WooCommerce SEO Titles and Descriptions

In this tutorial, we will show you how to bulk edit SEO titles and descriptions for WooCommerce products using AI.

A gift: Prompts for generating SEO Title and SEO Description

Here are two prompts you can use to easily generate SEO titles and descriptions for your WooCommerce products.

a) Prompt for generating SEO title:

Generate a concise, engaging SEO title for a WooCommerce product using the $Title$, $Product cattegories$, $Product color$, and $Product size$ fields. Ensure the title includes the $SEO keyword$ and highlights the product's key features. Keep the title within 65 characters, focusing on visibility and customer appeal.

b) Prompt for generating SEO description:

Generate a compelling SEO description for a WooCommerce product, based on the $SEO Title$ and $Content$, including the $SEO Keyword$. The description should be engaging, provide a summary of the product’s key features and benefits, and encourage customer interest. Keep the description under 155 characters, ensuring it is concise and optimized for search engine visibility.

You can customize these prompts as you wish to use them on your own site.

How to set up global prompts

WP Sheet Editor – AI allows you to create and save Global prompts. You can build a prompts bank and reuse the prompts in spreadsheet cells, when generating new rows with AI, in the Bulk Edit tool, and in the AI chat. These global prompts simplify your life because you don’t have to rewrite the prompts every time you want to use them.

Here’s how you can create and save global prompts:

Go to WP Sheet Editor > AI > Settings > Prompts.

Once there, click on Add new to create a new prompt.

Add the prompt Name and Prompt text. You can learn more about global prompts here.

Once you’re done, click on Save.

Once your global prompt is saved, it will automatically generate a prompt slug.

The Prompt Slug is important because you can use it after “ai:” as a prompt shortcut in WP Sheet Editor cells, the row generation tool, the Bulk Edit tool, and even the AI chat.

Open the products spreadsheet

Now that you’ve saved your global prompts to generate SEO titles and SEO descriptions for your WooCommerce products, you need to open the products’ spreadsheet.

Go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit products, and you’ll see all your WooCommerce products displayed in the spreadsheet.

Generate SEO title in spreadsheet cells

If you want to generate SEO title with AI in spreadsheet cells, you need to go to the SEO Title column.

Once there, you need to enter the prompt in the cell where you want to generate the SEO title.

To add an AI prompt, you need to type ai:, followed by 1) a full prompt OR 2) a global prompt slug.

In this example, we will use the prompt slug from the SEO title prompt we saved as a global prompt, so we will enter this:

ai:seo-title

Remember: If you don’t want to use the ai:prompt-slug shortcut, you can type ai:, followed by a full custom prompt right on the spot.

Once you hit Enter, the AI will start generating your SEO title.

And here you can see the SEO title we have just generated.

You can paste the AI prompt/shortcut in multiple cells to generate SEO titles for multiple products at once.

As you can see, we have generated several SEO titles.

Once you have generated all the SEO titles you want, you need to click on Save.

Bulk generate product SEO titles with AI

If you don’t want to generate SEO titles in spreadsheet cells, you can do it using the Bulk Edit tool.

In this example, we will generate SEO titles for all products missing SEO title, so we need to use the Search tool to filter the products.

Once we’re on the Search tool, we need to select these values:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
• Field: SEO Title
• Operator: =
• Value: Leave this field empty.
• Click on Run search.

Now all the products missing SEO title will be displayed on the spreadsheet.

Next, we need to open the Bulk Edit tool, which normally allows us to edit any field on hundreds of products, and will now allow us to bulk generate SEO titles for our WooCommerce products using AI.

Once on the Bulk Edit tool, we need to select these values to generate SEO titles in bulk:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
• What field do you want to edit: SEO Title
• Select type of edit: Here you have two options:
  • AI prompt: You can enter a custom full prompt, select the AI provider/model, and preview the result before saving the changes.
  • AI command: SEO Description. You can select this if you have previously saved a global prompt named “SEO Title”.
• AI Provider: If you have configured multiple providers, you can select the provider you want to use to complete this task.
• You can click on the Show preview button to preview the result before saving the changes.
• Click on Bulk Edit to start generating the changes.

Generate SEO descriptions in spreadsheet cells

To generate SEO descriptions in spreadsheet cells, you need to go to the SEO Description column and type the AI prompt in any cell.

To add an AI prompt, you need to type ai:, followed by 1) a full prompt or 2) a global prompt slug.

In this example, we will use the prompt slug from the SEO description prompt we saved as a global prompt, so we will enter this:

ai:seo-description

Remember: If you don’t want to use the ai:prompt-slug shortcut, you can type ai:, followed by a full custom prompt right on the spot.

After adding the prompt or prompt shortcut, the AI will start working to generate the SEO description.

Here you can see the SEO description we have just generated using AI.

You can paste the same SEO description prompt or prompt shortcut in multiple cells.

Once you have generated all the SEO descriptions you want, you need to Save the changes.

Bulk generate SEO descriptions with AI

In this example, we want to show you how to bulk generate SEO descriptions using AI. We will edit all the products missing SEO description, so we need to filter all the products using the Search tool.

Once we’re on the Search tool, we need to select these values:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
• Field: SEO Description
• Operator: =
• Value: Leave this field empty.
• Click on Run search.

After running the search, you’ll see all the products that match the search terms displayed on the spreadsheet.

Now you need to open the Bulk Edit tool, which allows you to edit any field on hundreds or thousands of products at once. In this case, it will allow us to generate WooCommerce SEO descriptions in bulk.

Now let’s select these values in order to generate SEO descriptions in bulk:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
• What field do you want to edit: SEO Description
• Select type of edit: Here you have two options:
  • AI prompt: You can enter a custom full prompt, select the AI provider/model, and preview the result before saving the changes.
  • AI command: SEO Description. You can select this if you have previously saved a global prompt named SEO Description.
• AI Provider: If you have configured multiple providers, you can select the provider you want to use to complete this task.
• You can click on the Show preview button to preview the result before saving the changes.
• Click on Bulk Edit to start generating the changes.

Optional: Optimize existing SEO Titles and Descriptions with AI

If what you want is not to generate SEO titles and descriptions from scratch, but to refine or optimize existing SEO titles and descriptions, you can do it easily. Just add the prompt of what you want to do in the cells or using the Bulk Edit tool.

You have some options:

1. Save the prompts as global prompts to reuse them in spreadsheet cells or the Bulk Edit tool.
2. Add the full prompt in the cells by typing ai: followed by the prompt text.

IMPORTANT: To edit existing SEO titles and descriptions, the cell must have content when adding the prompt/prompt shortcut.

Here are two useful prompts you can customize and use:

Prompt for optimizing SEO titles:

Refine the existing SEO title for a WooCommerce product using the $post_title$, $product_cat$, $pa_color$, and $pa_size$ fields. Ensure the title is concise (within 60 characters), includes relevant keywords, and is engaging for potential customers while improving search engine visibility and appeal.

Prompt for optimizing SEO descriptions:

Enhance the existing SEO description for a WooCommerce product using the $post_title$, $product_cat$, $pa_color$, and $pa_size$ fields. Keep the description under 160 characters, focusing on clarity, relevance, and keyword optimization to improve search engine ranking and attract customer interest.
