WooCommerce – Disable Product Reviews on Hundreds of Products

posted in: Guides | 0

Sometimes your client may ask you to stop getting product reviews in some of his products. For example he may ask you to disable product reviews for the e-books, for the yellow shirts or for the smartphones.

So how do you do it? How do you disable the reviews on all the e-books if you have two hundred of them? How do you disable product reviews to five hundred T-Shirts?

In this article we show you how to disable product reviews by product keyword, category, or attribute.

1- Install WP Sheet Editor

WP Sheet Editor provides a Products Spreadsheet where you can see all the product information and you can edit freely.

You can skip this step if you already have the plugin installed and activated.

2- Setup the WooCommerce Products Spreadsheet

The setup is easy and it only takes 2 minutes.

Please follow this tutorial for the quick setup.

3- Open the Sheet Editor Plugin

Once you open the sheet editor plugin, you’ll see all your products and their information.

4- Disable product reviews to all products containing a keyword

To disable your product reviews by keyword, you need to use the “Apply changes in bulk” tool.

This tool helps you to apply changes to all your products or to specific groups of products. In this case, it will help you modify all products containing a specific keyword.

Once you open “Apply changes in bulk”,  hit the “Select rows” button. This tool will help you filter your products to select the ones you need. You can filter the products by keyword, category, attribute, tag, etc.

Look for your product’s keyword. For example, if you want to modify all the smartphones, you just need to write “Smartphone” in the “Contains keyword” field.

Then, hit the “Run search” button.

After you’ve filtered your products, you need to set the values that will help you disable the product reviews. For this, you need to follow these steps:

  • Check the “I understand it will update the posts from my search” checkbox.
  • Look for the “Enable reviews” column.
  • Select the “type of edit” you want, in this case it’s “Replace”.
  • Write the current value, which in this case is “yes”. Notice that “yes” stands for “enable”.
  • Write the new value, in this case it must be “no” and it stands for “disable”.
  • Hit the “Execute now” button and it’s done!

If you want to disable the product reviews to the products in the “Fashion” category, just open the “Apply changes in bulk” tool, and then hit the “Select rows” button.

Then, look for the category you want. For example you can look for the Fashion category just by writing “Fashion” in the “Enter Product category” field.

Then hit the “Run search” button.

After that, just set the new values.

Imagine your client has asked you to disable the product reviews for the small black T-Shirts. For that, just open the “Apply changes in bulk” tool and hit the “Select rows” button.

Then look for the product attributes you want to edit.

For example you can look for all the Small Black T-Shirts by writing the keyword and its attributes or you can look for the attributes only.

You do this by writing the attribute or attributes in the “Enter Product attribute” field. Then, enter the “Run search” button.

Set the new values

  • Check the “I understand it will update the posts from my search” checkbox.
  • Look for the “Enable reviews” column.
  • Select the “type of edit” you want, in this case it’s “Replace”.
  • Write the current value, which in this case is “yes”. Notice that “yes” stands for “enable”.
  • Write the new value, in this case it must be “no” and it stands for “disable”.
  • Hit the “Execute now” button and it’s done!
