WooCommerce – Find Product Variations without Image

posted in: Guides | 0

Sometimes when you create a bunch of variable products, you don’t upload images to those variations, maybe because you didn’t have them ready or your client didn’t give them to you.

Unfortunately, WooCommerce doesn’t give you any search tool that can help you find your variations without images and the only way you can do that is by checking products one by one.

Editing product variations in WooCommerce is very difficult because you have to open every product, go to the “variations” tab, and inspect every variation.

That’s why in this entry we’ll show you how easy it is to find product variations without images with WP Sheet Editor.

Install WP Sheet Editor

This plugin makes it easier for you to manage your WooCommerce store because it has a powerful “Bulk Edit” tool, which helps you find and edit thousands of products at once.

You can skip this step if you have the plugin installed and activated.

When you open the plugin, you’ll see all your products and their complete information displayed in a useful spreadsheet.

If you want to know which of your product variations don’t have any images, then you need to use the “Search” tool. This tool helps you filter your products in several ways as you’ll see in this article.

Once you’ve opened the “Search” tool, you need to check the “Search on variations” checkbox. This checkbox is really important because it helps you filter only product variations. Otherwise, it would find parent products missing featured images.

Then, you need to enable the advanced filters to let you look for the ones without images.

In the advanced filters, you need to set these values to look for the variations without images.

  • Select “_thumbnail_id” in “Field key”.
  • Choose the “<” sign in “Operator”.
  • Write “1” in the “Value” field.
  • Hit the “Run search” button.

If you want to know which of your product variations containing a keyword don’t have images, all you need to do is to open the “Search” tool and set the necessary values for the search.

After you’ve opened the search tool, you need to write the product keyword in the “Contains keyword” field.

Please, don’t forget to check the “Search on variations” checkbox. That way you make sure you’re filtering only the product variations.

Also, check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox to open the fields to look for products without image.

In the advanced filters, you need to set these values to look for the variations without images.

  • Write “_thumbnail_id” in “Field key”.
  • Choose the “equal” sign in “Operator”.
  • Write “0” in the “Value” field.
  • Then, you need to hit the “Run search” button, and your products will be filtered and shown in the spreadsheet.

Filtering your products by category, attribute or tag is another way (or three ways) to find your products without images.

For this, you simply need to open the “Search” tool.

After that, you need to write the product category, attribute or tag in the “Enter Product category…” field.

Don’t forget to check the “Search on variations” checkbox because it filters only product variations.

After that, you need to check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox.

In the advanced filters, you need to set these values to look for the variations without images.

  • Write “_thumbnail_id” in “Field key”.
  • Choose the “equal” sign in “Operator”.
  • Write “0” in the “Value” field.
  • Finally, hit the “Run search” button.

If your WooCommerce store sells downloadable products like images, documents, etc., then you may need to know which of those variations don’t have images.

For that, you need to open the “Search” tool and set the necessary values for the search.

Once you open it, check the “Search on variations” checkbox and then check the “Enable advanced filters” checkbox.

To look for the downloadable products you need to set these values in the advanced filters.

  • Write “_downloadable” in “Field key”.
  • Choose the “equal” sign in “Operator”.
  • Check the “Value” checkbox. It means the products are downloadable.

Next, you need to hit the “Add new” button to add a new advanced filter.

In the new advanced filter you need to set these values to look for the products missing images.

  • Write “_thumbnail_id” in “Field key”.
  • Choose the “equal” sign in “Operator”.
  • Write “0” in the “Value” field.

Easy!
