In this tutorial, we will show you how to search for orders with notes from the customer in WooCommerce.
As you may know, WooCommerce allows your customers to add notes at checkout to give you delivery directions or ask you to drop off deliveries at a specific place in the house.
Whatever the purpose of the notes, you now need to filter out all orders that have customer notes. And that’s what we will show you in this tutorial.
Here’s what you need to search for orders with customer notes:
1- The WooCommerce plugin
2- Some orders placed at your shop
3- The WP Sheet Editor – WooCommerce Orders plugin.
This plugin allows you to manage your WooCommerce orders in an intuitive spreadsheet that allows advanced search, export, import, and bulk edits with a few clicks.
You can download the plugin here:
Download WooCommerce Orders Spreadsheet Plugin - or - Check the features
After installing and activating the plugin, you need to follow these steps to know which WooCommerce orders contain notes from the customer:
1- Open the orders spreadsheet
To view and manage your WooCommerce orders in a spreadsheet, go to Sheet Editor > Edit Orders.
2- View the orders with customer notes in the spreadsheet
To know which orders contain notes added by the customers on checkout, you need to find the Order note column in the spreadsheet.
Important:
There’s an important difference between the Order note column and the Order notes column.
- Order note: Displays the notes added by the customers on checkout.
- Order notes: Displays the notes added by you and sent to the customer’s email. Here’s how you can add order notes to the customer in bulk.
3- Sort orders by customer order in the spreadsheet
If you click on the Order note column, your orders will be sorted by order note from the customer.
As you see below, all the orders with notes from the customer are displayed above the ones where there are no customer notes.
This is a great way to know which orders have notes added by the customers on checkout.
4- How to search for orders containing notes from the customer
Instead of sorting the orders by note from the customer, you can use the Search tool to find all your WooCommerce orders containing a note from the customer.
Once in the Search tool, you need to select the following values to find all the orders where customer notes were added:
Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox, and select the following values:
- Field: Order note
- Operator: != (This means “not equal to”)
- Value: Leave this field empty.
Now click on Run search to find all the orders where the Order note column is not empty.
As you see below, all the orders containing notes added by the customer on checkout are displayed in the spreadsheet.
This is how you can search for WooCommerce orders where customers left a note.
