WP Event Manager: How to Export and Import Events with CSV

Install WP Sheet Editor

To get started, you need to install and activate WP Sheet Editor – Post Types. After purchasing the plugin, you will receive a zip file. Follow these steps to install it:

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  2. Click on Upload plugin.
  3. Click on Choose file and locate the zip file on your computer.
  4. Click on Install now.
  5. Click on Activate plugin.
  6. Enter your license key and click on Activate License.

Open the Events Spreadsheet

Once the plugin is installed, navigate to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Events.

This will open a spreadsheet displaying all your event data in a structured format. From here, you can search, filter, and edit events easily.

Note: If you need to generate the spreadsheet for events, follow these steps:

  1. Go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup spreadsheet.
  2. Tick the Events post type and click on Save.
  3. Enable or disable the columns you want and click on Save.
  4. Start using the spreadsheet.

How to export events to a CSV file

If you want to export your WP Event Manager events from WordPress to a CSV file, follow these steps.

First, open the Export tool.

Once you’re in the Export tool, select the following values:

  • What columns do you want to export: Choose the event fields / columns you need to export.
  • Which rows do you want to export: You can filter specific events or export all events.
  • What app will you use to edit this file: Select the spreadsheet software you prefer. You can select Microsoft Excel 365, Google Sheets, etc.
  • Name of this export: Enter a descriptive name for your CSV file.
  • Click on Start new export.

A CSV file containing your event data will be downloaded to your computer. You can edit existing events or create new events in the CSV.

How to Import Events from a CSV file

Now let’s see how to import events from a CSV file into your WordPress site. Importing events is easy and really useful if you want to update existing events or create new events from a CSV file.

First, open the Import tool.

Once you’re in the Import tool, select the following values:

  • Source: Choose CSV file from my computer.
  • Click on Choose File and select the CSV file from your computer.
  • Click on Next.

Now you can Import all the columns or Select individual columns to import.

Decide if you want to create and/or update events:

  • Do you want to update or create items? Select the option you want. In this example, we will select Create new items and update existing items.
  • If you will update existing events, you can use any field as an identifier. In this example, we will use the record_id and ID columns to match records.
  • Click on Next.

Finally, you need to review the preview. If everything looks correct, click on The preview is fine, start import.
