Yoast SEO – Export and Import SEO Data with Google Sheets

In this tutorial, we will show you how to export and import Yoast SEO data with Google Sheets.

This will allow you to share a Google Sheets file with your SEO team for them to edit SEO titles, descriptions and keywords in Google Sheets.

What you need to export SEO to Google Sheets

We will use the WP Sheet Editor plugin. It allows you to view and edit posts, pages, products, and any other post types using an intuitive spreadsheet inside WordPress.

Also, we will use the Google Sheets Sync service. It allows you to export and import content between your WordPress sites and your Google Sheets accounts.

When you sign up to the service, you will receive a plugin helper that will allow you to connect your WordPress site to your Google account, the Google API, and the WP Sheet Editor API.

Once you have installed and activated everything you need, you can follow these steps to export SEO to Google Sheets:

When you sign up to the service, you will receive a plugin helper that will allow you to connect your WordPress site to your Google account, the Google API, and the WP Sheet Editor API.

You can follow this guide to install and set up the plugin.

Note: Since the sync service with Google Sheets works with all WP Sheet Editor spreadsheets used in the backend, you will be able to connect your site from any spreadsheet. In this example, we’ll use the WordPress posts spreadsheet, but you could use the WooCommerce products spreadsheet, WordPress pages spreadsheet, etc.

You need to click on the “Google Sheets” button.

Now click on the “Connect with Google and WP Sheet Editor API” button.

After that, you need to select the Google account to which you want to connect this WordPress site.

Finally, you need to tick the “See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app” checkbox and click on the “Continue” button.

Once you have connected your WordPress site to the Google API and the WP Sheet Editor API, you’ll have the option to Disconnect all sites or Disconnect the current site.

Now you’re ready to start exporting your Yoast SEO fields to Google Sheets.

You need to click on the “Export” button.

Now you need to select the following values to export your Yoast SEO fields to a Google Sheet:

  1. Select the columns you want to export. You can select specific exports; for example, in this case we will export these columns: ID, Title, View, Excerpt, Status, Categories, Tags, SEO Title, SEO Description, SEO Keyword, SEO FB title, SEO FB description, SEO FB image, SEO TW title, SEO TW description, SEO TW image, SEO No Index, SEO Primary Category, SEO Canonical URL.
  2. Select the rows you want to export. In this case, we will export all our WordPress posts. You can export all the results from a specific search or all the manually selected rows.
  3. Select the “Google Sheets” app.
  4. Enter a name for this export. Your Google Sheet will inherit this name.
  5. Click on “Start new export”

Finally, a Google Sheet will be created with all the data you have chosen to export. In this case, the columns and rows we selected to export.

As you can see in the screenshot below, we have exported the fields from the Yoast SEO plugin to Google Sheets.

With these simple steps, you can export the SEO data of your WordPress posts to Google Sheets.

If you want to import Yoast SEO data from Google Sheets to your WordPress site, you need to follow the steps below.

First, you need to open the “Import” tool.

Second, you need to select the Google Sheet file you want to import into your WordPress website.

For this you need to select the Google Sheets app as the Source from which you’ll import the Yoast SEO data.

Then, you need to select the spreadsheet using the Google Sheet file field.

If you don’t find the Google spreadsheet you want to import, you can click on the refresh button to update the list of available spreadsheets.

Note. Our Google Sheets Sync service only can import Google Sheets files that have been generated with the service. This means that, in order to import a Google Sheets file, you need first export the data.

Now click on Next.

Third, you need to select the columns you want to import. In this case, we will import all the columns, but you can select and map individual columns to import.

In this example, we will Update existing items and ignore new items, because we’re updating the Yoast SEO data for existing posts only.

We will match the existing values using the ID (record_id) column.

Once done, click on Next.

Finally, you’ll see a preview of what the SEO data will look like once imported into WordPress. If everything is OK, click on the “The preview is fine, start import” button.

With these simple steps, you can import Yoast SEO fields from Google Sheets into your WordPress site.

You can update SEO data for posts, pages, products, and any other post type using WP Sheet Editor and the Google Sheets Sync service.
