LearnDash LMS: Convert Free Courses into Paid Courses in Bulk

In this tutorial, we will show you how to bulk convert LearnDash free courses into paid courses. This is especially useful if you have dozens of free courses that you would like to turn into paid courses.

Moving from hobby to business can be a great move when you have published a certain number of courses. It can be a good strategy to publish free courses for a few months and then turn them into paid courses.

The only problem may be having to edit many individual courses. But don’t worry, because in this tutorial we will show you how you can edit hundreds of courses easily using a spreadsheet within the WordPress dashboard.

Install WP Sheet Editor – Courses

To do this, we will use the WP Sheet Editor – Courses plugin. It allows you to view and manage LearnDash LMS courses, lessons, topics, quizzes, questions, exams and assignments using an intuitive spreadsheet on WordPress.

Once you complete the payment process, you need to install the plugin:

1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
2. Click on Upload plugin.
3. Click on Choose file.
4. Locate the file on your computer.
5. Click on Install now.
6. Click on Activate plugin.
7. Enter your license and click on Activate License.

View LearnDash courses in the spreadsheet

To view your LearnDash LMS courses in the spreadsheet, you need to go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Courses. You will see all your LearnDash courses displayed in the spreadsheet; every row is a course and every column is a course field.

Search for free LearnDash courses

The first thing we are going to do is filter the LearnDash courses by access mode to find the free courses and display them in the spreadsheet. This will allow us to organize the data so that we are not dealing with free, paid and other types of course access.

To do this, we need to open the Search tool.

Now you need to select these values in order to search for free courses:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
• Select these values in the advanced filter:
  • Field: Access Mode
  • Operator: =
  • Value: Select “Free”
• Click on Run search.

After running the search, you will see all your free courses displayed in the spreadsheet. You can see the active search filters displayed above the spreadsheet.

Convert free courses into paid courses

You can turn free courses into paid courses using the spreadsheet.

To do this, you need to go to the Access Mode column and select the Buy Now option on the dropdown of every cell.

Pro tip: You can autofill columns below, just as you do in Excel or Google sheets.

After selecting the Buy Now access mode, you need to enter the course prices in the Course Price column.

Once you’re done editing your courses, click on Save to apply the changes.
