LearnPress – How to Import Quizzes from Excel or Google Sheets

In a previous tutorial, we showed you how to export LearnPress quizzes from WordPress to a CSV file that you can edit with Excel, Google Sheets, or any other CSV editor. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to import LearnPress quizzes directly from Excel or Google Sheets to your WordPress site.

We will upload LearnPress quizzes from a CSV file to WordPress using the WP Sheet Editor – Post Types plugin. It allows you to manage posts, pages and any post types using an intuitive spreadsheet. You can do advanced searches and apply bulk changes with a few clicks.

This extension adds full compatibility between WP Sheet Editor and LearnPress.

After installing and activating the plugin and the extension, follow these steps to import a CSV file containing LearnPress quizzes into your WordPress site:

1- Optional – Set up the quizzes spreadsheet

If this is your first time using WP Sheet Editor with LearnPress quizzes, you need to set up the spreadsheet.

1. Go to Sheet Editor > Setup spreadsheet.
2. Select the Quizzes post type.
3. Click on Save to go on.

Now you’ll see all the columns that will appear on the spreadsheet on the Enabled side. If you want to hide them from the spreadsheet, move the columns to the Disabled side.

Once done, click on Save to generate the quizzes spreadsheet.

Now you will see all your LearnPress courses displayed on the spreadsheet. Every row is a quiz, and every column is a field.

2- Import LearnPress courses from Excel or Google Sheets

Now you need to have the CSV containing the LearnPress quizzes.

Here’s what our CSV looks like; we exported the quizzes following the previous tutorial.

Click on Import to upload the quizzes from the CSV file to WordPress.

Now select the following values in the Import tool:

• Source: CSV file from my computer
• Click on Choose File and locate the CSV file on your computer
• Click on Next.

Now you can click on Import all the columns to go on.

Optionally, you can click on Select individual columns to import. If you choose this option, you’ll have to map the columns with the WordPress fields.

In Do you want to update or create items, you can select any of the following options:

• Create new items and update existing items
• Import all rows as new
• Only create new items, ignore existing items
• Update existing items, ignore new items

Depending on what you select in the previous field, you may need to match the items. For example, you can match them by ID.

You’ll see a preview of the quizzes table. If everything is OK, click on The preview is fine, start import.
