How to Bulk Add a Message to WooCommerce Product Descriptions

Learn how to easily add a promotional message at the beginning or end of your WooCommerce product descriptions in bulk.

Running promotions is a great strategy for increasing sales and moving inventory. During these campaigns, you often need to append a promotion message directly into your product descriptions to ensure customers don’t miss the offer.

For example, you may want to append a message like “🎁 30% OFF Plus Free Shipping on all orders this weekend!” to the descriptions of a specific clothing line or brand.

Normally, you can use the default WooCommerce editor to make those changes. However, if you need to update an entire category containing 200 products, opening and editing each product tab manually would take you hours.

In this article, we’ll show you how to bulk append or prepend a promotional message to your product descriptions using the WP Sheet Editor plugin.

1. Install WP Sheet Editor to Manage WooCommerce Products

The WP Sheet Editor plugin replaces the slow default WooCommerce editor with an intuitive Products Spreadsheet. This allows you to see all your product information on a single screen and edit data freely, just like in Excel.

You can skip this step if you already have the plugin installed and activated on your site.

Once activated, navigate to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Products. This spreadsheet shows you your entire catalog, including variations, prices, and detailed descriptions.

2. Filter Your Products by Keyword, Category, Attribute, or Tag

Before adding your promotional text, you need to decide which products will receive the message. WP Sheet Editor includes an advanced Search tool that allows you to isolate specific items instantly.

Click on the Search tool located on the top plugin toolbar.

Once the tool is open, you can easily filter your products by keyword, stock status, category, custom attribute, tag, or price, as we show you in the examples below:

a) Find products by keyword

If you need to apply a message only to products that contain a specific word in their title (e.g., adding a promo to all “Jackets”), use the keyword filter.

Just enter the values as follows:

• Contains keyword: Enter the keyword you’re looking for (e.g., “Jacket”).
• Hit Run search.

Once the products have been filtered, only the items matching your keyword will be displayed in the spreadsheet grid.

b) Filter products by category or tag

If you are running a category-wide sale, you can filter all items inside that specific taxonomy. For example, let’s find all the products from the “Shoes” category.

• Enter the product category name into the Enter Tags (taxonomies) field.
• Hit Run Search.

After the plugin processes the request, the spreadsheet will reload to display only the items within that category.

c) Search for products by custom attribute

You can also target highly specific inventory, such as targeting products by their attributes. For example, let’s say you want to add a message to all products with the color attribute “Black”.

• Enter the specific product attribute into the Enter Tags (taxonomies) field.
• Hit Run Search.

Once the search is complete, all products featuring the “Black” attribute will be ready for bulk editing.

d) Find products by specific price points

Let’s say you are running a clearance sale and want to add a disclaimer to all products currently priced at $19.99.

To do this, use the advanced filters in the Search tool:

• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox
• Field: Regular price (_regular_price)
• Operator: =
• Value: 19.99 (Enter the exact price you want to target)
• Hit Run search.

After executing the search, the spreadsheet will display only the products matching that exact price point.

Pro Tip: You can combine your search parameters! For example, you can search for products containing a specific keyword, inside a certain category, that share a specific attribute all at once to create highly targeted promotions.

3. Bulk Add the Message to WooCommerce Product Descriptions

Once you’ve successfully filtered your target products, you will use the Bulk Edit tool to inject your promotional message into the descriptions.

Open the Bulk Edit tool from the top toolbar and configure the following values:

• Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search.
• What field do you want to edit: Select either Short description or Content (the main long description).
• Select type of edit: Choose Append (to add the message at the very end of the description) or Prepend (to add the message at the very beginning).
• Enter the value to append/prepend to the existing value: Type your promotional message (e.g., <strong>🎁 30% OFF Plus Free Shipping!</strong>). Make sure to add a blank space or an HTML line break (`<br>`) before the text so it formats cleanly against your existing description.
• Click on Execute now.
