WooCommerce – Search for Products Missing Gallery Images

Maintaining a professional appearance in your online store is essential for building customer trust and driving sales. One of the most common issues in large WooCommerce catalogs is the presence of incomplete product listings that lack sufficient visual information. Specifically, identifying WooCommerce products missing gallery images is a vital task for any product catalog audit.

Without a full gallery, customers may feel uncertain about a purchase, leading to higher bounce rates. In this guide, we will show you how to perform a bulk search for products without image galleries, helping you quickly identify missing media assets so you can update your store and improve your overall conversion rates.

Managing a vast inventory with hundreds or thousands of items makes it nearly impossible to check every single page for missing photos manually. Often, WooCommerce store owners only realize an item is missing its gallery when a customer complains or sales for that specific item drop. This manual approach to inventory maintenance is inefficient and prone to error.

By default, WooCommerce does not offer a native filter to find products with empty galleries. To solve this, we will use WP Sheet Editor. This plugin provides a powerful spreadsheet interface that allows you to perform an advanced metadata search. You can filter your entire database to find exactly which items are missing their secondary images, making bulk image management much faster and more accurate than using the standard WordPress dashboard.

Note: You can skip this step if you already have the plugin installed and activated.

1. Open the WooCommerce Spreadsheet

Once you have the plugin installed, you can access your data in a familiar spreadsheet view. This is the foundation for efficient WooCommerce inventory management, allowing you to see all your product fields (including prices, SKUs, and media) on one screen.

To get started, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit products. You will see the spreadsheet containing all your products and their complete information, including the Product gallery column which we will use for our audit.

2. Open the Advanced Search Tool

The Search tool is where the heavy lifting happens. Unlike the standard search box in WordPress, this tool allows you to use any database field as a filter. This is perfect for identifying incomplete WooCommerce listings by searching for empty values in specific columns.

3. Search for Products Missing Gallery Images

This search allows you to be as broad or as specific as you need. For example, you can perform a combined search to find items that are currently “In Stock” but are missing product galleries, or filter by a specific category like “Clothing” to see which apparel items need new photography.

To find all products without a gallery, tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and enter these specific values:

  • Field: Product gallery
  • Operator: =
  • Value: Leave this field completely empty.
  • Click on Run search.

After clicking the search button, the spreadsheet will refresh to display only the items that meet your criteria. You will notice that in the Product gallery column, the cells are entirely empty. These are your orphaned or incomplete listings that require a media update.
