WooCommerce – How to Import Product Reviews from a CSV File

In a previous tutorial, we showed you how to export WooCommerce product reviews to a CSV file. Here, we’ll show you how to import product reviews into your WordPress site. This is perfect to migrate your product reviews from one site to another.

We’ll use the WP Sheet Editor Comments Pro plugin, which allows you to view and manage comments and reviews on an intuitive spreadsheet.

You can use any field as a search parameter to filter your comments and reviews. Besides, you can apply bulk changes with a few clicks, and export/import comments easily.

Once you install and activate the plugin, you’ll see the WordPress comments and reviews displayed on a spreadsheet like this:

Now, you need to follow these simple steps to upload your WooCommerce product reviews into your WordPress site.

Previous step: Import your WooCommerce products

This is a must if you want the product reviews to work correctly. Your WooCommerce products must be on the website.

Here’s a tutorial where you can learn how to import WooCommerce products.

Once the products have been imported, now you can continue to import the reviews.

1- Open the Import tool

WP Sheet Editor contains an Import tool that allows you to upload changes and new comments using a CSV file from Excel or Google Sheets.

You need to open it with one click on Import on the top toolbar.

2- Select the CSV file you’ll import

After opening the Import tool, you need to select the CSV file containing the product reviews to import it from your computer:

• Source: CSV file from my computer
• Hit Choose File and select the file from your computer.
• Click Next.

3- Configure the import

Now you need to map the columns to match the values in the CSV file with the values in the WordPress database.

You should select Ignore this column on the following fields:

• Parent comment
• User ID of the Author
• Post ID
• Post Title
• Ver Post

Once done, click Next.

Now these values to configure how the comments will be imported:

• Do you want to update or create items: It’s important to understand the options you have to import your product reviews:
  • Create new items and update existing items: Use this option to upload new reviews and update existing reviews. In this case, you need to match the existing comments using the DATE field both in the CSV Field and the WordPress Field.
  • Only create new items, ignore existing items: Use this option to only import the missing product reviews and ignore the existing ones.
  • Import all rows as new: Use this option if you want to create reviews only.
  • Update existing items, ignore new items: Use this option if you want to only update existing reviews and ignore (not import) new reviews.
• Click Next.

After that, you’ll see a preview of how the information will look in the spreadsheet once the reviews are imported. If everything is OK, you can hit Import.

As you see, our product reviews have been imported into our WordPress site.

As you see, WP Sheet Editor allows you to export your WooCommerce product reviews to a CSV file. You can edit that CSV file using Excel, Google, or any other CSV editor.

After applying changes, you can import the product reviews to a new site or to the same site.
