In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to find images by extension.
However, please don’t think it’s useless. In fact, you can save hours of hard work trying to find your images by extension. Just a few clicks, and you’ll see how to find all your jpeg, png or gif images.
Just follow these really simple steps.
1- Install the Media Library Spreadsheet plugin
This plugin displays all your media files on a spreadsheet. As you know, spreadsheets simplify your life, so that’s what this plugin does for you. You can apply changes to hundreds of products at once.

Once installed and activated, go to Sheet Editor > Edit Media to open it. You’ll see a spreadsheet containing all your files and their complete information.
2- Open the “Search” option on the plugin’s toolbar
The Search option allows you to filter your files by keyword, author, date, format, etc. That’s why you need to open it by clicking on Search on the plugin’s toolbar.
3- Filter your images by extension
Now you just need to tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox and then use these fields and values to filter your images.
- Field key: Format
- Operator: CONTAINS
- Value: “jpeg”, “png” or “gif”
Done!
Now your images will be filtered and shown on the spreadsheet. You can apply any change to your filtered images. It’s really simple and fast. You don’t need to use any PHP codes or spend lots of hours.
