In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to bulk edit user avatars on WordPress, using WP Sheet Editor and Open User Avatar.
One User Avatar is a WordPress plugin that allows you to upload user avatars from your WordPress media library. Your users don’t need to have a Gravatar account in order to set up a custom avatar on your WordPress website.
WP Sheet Editor – WordPress Users is a plugin that allows you to view and manage your WordPress user profiles in an intuitive spreadsheet. It allows advanced search, export, import and bulk edit.

In this case, it will allow you to bulk edit profile pictures on WordPress added with the Once User Avatar plugin.
1- How to open the WordPress users spreadsheet
Once you install and activate WP Sheet Editor – WordPress Users, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit users.
You’ll see all your WordPress users displayed in the spreadsheet.
Every row is a user, and every column is a field.
2- How to bulk edit edit user avatars in the spreadsheet
You can upload, remove and delete user avatars using the WPCM User Avatar column.
This column accepts view image, upload image or select it from your WordPress media library, and paste an image URL.
To preview a specific user avatar, you can click on the View image button on any cell.
You’ll see a popup showing the image preview.
To bulk upload user avatars, you can click on the Upload image button on any cell.
This button allows you to select an image from the WordPress media library or upload it from your computer.
Another way to bulk update your user avatars is to paste an image URL on the cell.
Just double-click the cell and paste the image URL.
Once you’re done bulk adding user avatars, click on Save to apply the changes. This is a good way to edit many user profile avatars without having to save changes a lot of times.
3- How to search for users missing avatar
In this section, we show you how to use the WPCM User Avatar field as a search filter to find all the user profiles missing avatar.
For this you need to click on the Search tool.
The Search tool allows you to use any field of your user profiles to search for users.
In this case, we will search for all subscribers missing user avatars.
Just select these values:
- Role: Subscriber
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
- Field: WPCM User Avatar
- Operator: =
- Value: We will leave this field empty.
- Click on Run search.
Once we run the search, the spreadsheet will display all the user profiles missing user avatar.
4- How to bulk edit user avatars
In this section we will show you how to bulk update user avatars with WP Sheet Editor.
This is a great way to edit many user profiles at once and save a lot of time.
To bulk manage user avatars, you need to use the Bulk Edit tool, which allows you to edit hundreds of user profiles at once.
a) How to bulk upload user avatars
If you want to set up a default avatar to all the selected users, you can add an image to all of them using the Bulk Edit tool.
Just select these values:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows). Note – You can edit all your user profiles, all the user profiles that you manually select in the spreadsheet, or all the search results.
- What field do you want to edit: WPCM User Avatar
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: Paste the image URL here.
- Click on Execute now.
Once you execute the bulk edit, you can see that all the selected user profiles have the same user avatar.
b) How to bulk remove user avatars
If you want to remove the user avatars in bulk, you need to select these values in the bulk editor tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows. Note – You can edit all your user profiles, all the user profiles that you manually select in the spreadsheet, or all the search results.
- What field do you want to edit: WPCM User Avatar
- Select type of edit: Clear value
- Click on Execute now.
As you see below, we have removed the user avatars from all the selected users.
