Once you install and activate the plugin, you need to follow the steps in the sections below to learn how to edit the Cost of goods field in bulk in hundreds of products easily.
1- How to set the cost of goods in a spreadsheet
First, we want to show you how to easily set the cost of goods for hundreds of products using the products’ spreadsheet. You don’t have to open the products and edit them one by one. This approach saves you clicks and reduces the load on your server.
You just need to open the spreadsheet under WP Sheet Editor > Edit Products.
Once there, you need to locate the Wc Cog Cost column, which stands for the Cost field from the Cost of Goods extension.
Tips for Workflow Optimization:
- Missing the column? If you don’t find the column in the spreadsheet, go to Settings > Scan DB to find fields. You just need to hover over the Settings field in the top toolbar to find this option.
- Managing Variations: If you want to display product variations to update the “cost of goods” field for specific sizes, colors, or styles, click Display variations on the toolbar. The plugin will display the variations next to the main products.
Finally, click Save on the toolbar to apply the changes to all the products in the spreadsheet. You can save lots of clicks and server resources by making all your edits at once and saving just once.
2- How to search for products based on the cost of goods
You can use the Cost of Goods field as a search parameter to find your products. This is especially helpful if you need to find all products that are missing cost data or those within a certain profit margin.
For example, you can search for all products whose cost of goods is 20 dollars or less. You can also search for all products whose cost of goods is exactly 20 dollars, or a higher amount.
To begin, open the Search tool with one click on the toolbar.
Now, click the Enable advanced filters checkbox and select these values to filter your products:
- Field: Wc Cog Cost
- Operator: <=
- Value: 20
- Click Run Search.
Once you click the Run Search button, all the products that meet the parameters will be displayed in the spreadsheet. This is how you can easily search for WooCommerce products based on the cost of goods using exact or relative values.
3- How to bulk edit the cost of goods for hundreds of products at once
Besides being able to save lots of time using the spreadsheet to edit cells individually, you can bulk update this field using the Bulk Edit tool. This is the fastest way to apply a single cost value to a large group of items.
We’ll bulk edit the search results from the previous section. First, open the Bulk Edit tool with one click on the toolbar.
Once there, select the following values to set the same cost of goods to all our selected products:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows)
- What field do you want to edit: Wc Cog Cost
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: 25, for example.
- Click Execute Now.
Once you set these values, all the products in your filtered search will have a new value in the cost of goods field. This is how you can quickly bulk edit the cost of goods for hundreds of products.
Of course, you could have searched for your products by keyword, category, attribute, date, price, or tag and applied the same values. You can even apply changes to all products in your store at once.
Bulk Editing WooCommerce Costs is Simple
As you see, you can bulk edit the cost of goods field for hundreds or even thousands of WooCommerce products easily. You don’t have to use any snippets or manual code. You just need to open the spreadsheet and start editing big numbers of products.
The best part is that your server won’t have problems because the plugin applies the changes in batches to give your server some rest during the process.
