This post is a guide on how to change the membership status of your users on WordPress. For example, you’re probably experiencing problems with the Pro membership products and services, and want to pause or cancel it for all your users upon agreement with them.
For this, you need the WooCommerce Memberships plugin. As you know, this plugin allows you to create membership plans to give exclusive access to content and products to certain specific users.
Also, you’ll use the WordPress Users Spreadsheet plugin.
WordPress Users Spreadsheet
Use an intuitive spreadsheet inside WordPress to:
- Do advanced searches with a few clicks
- Bulk Edit any of your user profiles
- Export users to Excel or Google Sheets
- Import users from Excel or Google Sheets
- Bulk edit fields generated from other plugins
- And a lot of things!

Once installed and activated, follow these steps to cancel or pause hundreds of subscriptions at once with the WordPress Users Spreadsheet plugin.
1- Open the users’ spreadsheet
To open the users’ spreadsheet, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Users.
You’ll see the spreadsheet containing all the user profiles as rows and their complete files as columns.
If you right-scroll in the spreadsheet, you’ll see all the WooCommerce Memberships fields displayed as columns.
Something really important to notice is that the spreadsheet shows a set of columns for each membership plan you create in WooCommerce Membership. This happens because there are users with more than one membership plan active.
2- Select the users for whom you’ll cancel or pause the subscription
In this case, we want to pause membership plans for all the users with the Pro membership plan active. Therefore, let’s open the Search tool with one click.
Now select Pro in Active membership plan, and click Run Search to filter all the users with the Pro membership plan active.
Once the users are filtered, they will be displayed in the spreadsheet.
3- Pause or cancel membership plans for all the selected users
Open the Bulk Edit tool to cancel or pause the subscription for the users filtered.
Once you open the Bulk Edit tool, select these values to pause their subscription:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search (including non-visible rows)
- What field do you want to edit: We’ll pause membership plan 1, so we need to select Membership 1 : Status.
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: Select the new status. In this case, we can select Cancelled or Paused.
- Click Execute Now.
After selecting and applying these values, your selected subscriptions will be paused or canceled, depending on what you selected.
That was really simple!
Editing status for hundreds of subscriptions at once is really simple with the WordPress Users Spreadsheet plugin. You don’t have to open and edit values one by one, but you can edit them all at once!
