WooCommerce – Search for Variable Products Missing Variations

In this tutorial, we will show you how to search for WooCommerce variable products missing variations. Sometimes, we create a bunch of variable products and forget to add attributes and/or variations. Sometimes, we import products from a CSV file and the variations are not imported correctly, so we end up with a lot of variable products without variations.

Whatever the case, finding variable products without variations can be hard, because we would normally have to open the products and check them one by one.

Fortunately, with WP Sheet Editor – Products Spreadsheet, you can run advanced, combined searches using any field as a search filter. This plugin allows you to view and manage your WooCommerce products using a spreadsheet interface.

After installing the plugin and activating your license, follow the steps below in order to search for WooCommerce variable products missing variations.

Open the products spreadsheet

To open the products’ spreadsheet, go to WP Sheet Editor > Edit Products.

You’ll see all your WooCommerce products displayed on the spreadsheet.

Option 1: Display variable products missing variations

The fastest way to find variable products missing variations is to use the Display variations control.

• Hover over the “Display variations” button on the top toolbar.
• Click “Only display variable products that have no variations”.

That immediately filters the spreadsheet to show only variable products that do not have variations.

Option 2: Using the Search tool

The Search tool allows you to run advanced searches using any WooCommerce product field as a search filter.

You can search for products by keyword, category, attribute, product type, product visibility, product author / vendor, price, date, stock, stock status, etc.

In this case, the Search tool allows us to find all the variable products that have no variations.

We have added a new field called “Variations Count” to make this process much easier! You can now search for variable products that have zero variations in just a few clicks.

• Enter product type: Variable
• Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
• Field: Variations Count
• Operator: =
• Value: 0
• Click on Run search.

After running the search, you’ll instantly see all variable products with a variations count of zero displayed in the spreadsheet. These are the products that need your attention.

Bonus: Display variable products that have variations

Alternatively, you can use the Display variations tool to see only the variable products that already have variations.

• Hover over the “Display variations” button on the top toolbar.
• Click “Only display variable products that have variations”.

This will instantly filter the spreadsheet to show only parent variable products that contain at least one variation, allowing you to easily review and confirm that they are configured correctly.
