Learn how to bulk edit Download Monitor downloads.
The Download Monitor plugin allows you to add, manage, and sell downloads. You can create a download store from your WordPress website and sell your content.
That’s great, but there’s a problem. Managing hundreds of download files individually is quite tedious.
We’ll show you how to edit multiple Download Monitor downloads at once using an intuitive spreadsheet. You’ll learn how to search for the downloads using any field as a search parameter and then apply bulk changes to all the search results with just a few clicks.
We’ll use the WP Sheet Editor plugin.
WP Sheet Editor

Once installed and activated, you need to follow the steps in the following sections to learn how to set up the downloads’ spreadsheet, search for downloads using advanced search filters, and bulk edit your downloads with a few clicks.
1- How to set up the downloads spreadsheet
- Go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup spreadsheet.
- Select the Downloads post type.
- Click Save to go on.
Now select the columns that you want to display in the spreadsheet and which columns you want to hide.
- Enabled: All visible columns.
- Disable: All hidden columns.
- Click Save to go on.
After that, you’ll see all the downloads displayed in the spreadsheet. Every row is a download and every column is a field.
If you want to edit any value of your downloads using the spreadsheet, you just need to go to the column and cell you want to edit, and change the values. Once you’ve done lots of changes to all the downloads, click Save to apply the changes. This is a great way to save time without having to open and edit downloads one by one.
However, in the following sections, we show you how to filter and bulk edit downloads.
2- How to do advanced download searches
The Search tool allows you to use any of your download fields as a search parameter to filter the downloads and display them on the spreadsheet. You can search for your downloads by keyword, category, tag, date, download count, etc.
Open it with one click on Search; it’s on the toolbar.
In the following drop-down sections we show you how to do advanced download searches with a few clicks.
a) How to search for downloads by keyword
If you want to search for all the downloads containing the Wallpaper keyword in their titles, for example, you need to select the following values:
- Contains keyword: Enter the desired keyword here. In this case, wallpaper.
- Click Run Search to filter all the downloads containing the wallpaper keyword in their titles.
Once the downloads are filtered by keyword, you’ll see them displayed in the spreadsheet.
b) How to search for downloads by category or tag
If you want to search for all downloads within an entire category or all downloads containing a specific tag, you need to select these values:
- Enter Download Cateories or Download Tags: Enter any of these search parameters here.
- Click Run Search to filter all the downloads by category or tag.
Once the downloads have been filtered, you’ll see them all displayed on the spreadsheet.
c) How to search for downloads available for members only
The Search tool allows you to use any fields as search parameters; for example, you can search for all the downloads available for members only. You need to select these values:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
- Field: Members Only
- Operator: =
- Value: Yes. Tick this checkbox.
- Click Run Search.
After that, all the downloads available for members only will be displayed on the spreadsheet.
d) How to search for downloads by download count
For example, you may need to find all the downloads with a download limit of 100. In that case, you need to select the following values:
- Tick the Enable advanced filters checkbox.
- Field: Download Count
- Operator: =
- Value: 100
- Click Run Search.
After applying these filters, the downloads will be displayed in the spreadsheet.
3- How to bulk Download Monitor downloads
Once you’ve filtered the downloads you’ll edit, you need to open the Bulk Edit tool with one click.
In the following drop-down sections we show you the values you need to select in the Bulk Edit tool in order to apply several massive changes to all the filtered downloads.
a) How to bulk delete / remove downloads
You have two options to delete all the filtered downloads:
You can completely delete all the filtered/selected items by applying the bulk edit manually, or you can use our automatic bulk deletion by hovering over Bulk Edit and clicking the Delete option.
Once the Bulk Edit tool opens, click Execute Now.
With this option, you don’t need to manually select the values to apply; just take into account the items will be removed completely.
You can also apply the changes manually. Just open the Bulk Edit tool and select the following values:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Status
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: Delete completely or Trash
- Click Execute Now.
b) How to bulk edit download count
To set a new download count for all the filtered downloads, you need to select the following values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Download Count
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: 200, for example.
- Click Execute Now.
c) How to bulk enable the “Members only“ option
Download Monitor allows you to bulk check checkboxes, but you can’t bulk uncheck them.
Fortunately, WP Sheet Editor allows you to bulk check and bulk uncheck any checkbox.
If you want to enable the Members only option for all the filtered downloads, you need to select the following values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Members Only
- Select type of edit: Set value
- Replace existing value with this value: Tick this checkbox.
- Click Execute Now.
d) How to bulk upload the same featured image for all the filtered downloads
To upload the same featured image for all the filtered downloads, you need to select these values in the Bulk Edit tool:
- Select the rows that you want to update: Edit all the rows from my current search
- What field do you want to edit: Featured Image
- Select type of edit: Set value
- You can Upload the file or you can paste the File URL.
- Click Execute Now.
That’s really easy!
Bulk editing downloads from Download Monitor is really simple with the WP Sheet Editor plugin. You can edit downloads just as you do in Excel or Google Sheets, or you can apply advanced search filters and bulk edit all the search results.
