Thirsty Affiliates – How to Export and Import Affiliate Links

In a previous post, we showed you how to bulk edit affiliate links created with Thirsty Affiliates. Now we’ll show you how to export and import your thirsty affiliate links.

You can use this when you hire a new team member who doesn’t know how to use WordPress and want him to apply some changes to your affiliate links using Excel or Google Sheets.

To do this, you can easily export your affiliate links and then easily import the changes and new affiliate links made in Excel or Google Sheets with a few clicks. This covers a complete process of editing hundreds of affiliate links in a CSV file.

We’ll use the WP Sheet Editor plugin.

  • Apply all of these to Thirsty Affiliates links!

Once you have installed and activated the WP Sheet Editor plugin, follow these steps in order to export or import affiliate links.

1- Set up the affiliate links spreadsheet

Important. If you already set up the spreadsheet, skip this step.

To set up the affiliate links spreadsheet:

  • Go to WP Sheet Editor > Setup Spreadsheet.
  • Select the Affiliate Links post type.
  • Click Save.

Now select the columns you want to display in the spreadsheet.

  • Enabled: This side shows all the columns that will be visible in the spreadsheet.
  • Disabled: This side shows all the columns that will be invisible in the spreadsheet.
  • Click Save to generate the links spreadsheet.

Once you do this, you’ll see all the affiliate links in the spreadsheet. Every row will be an affiliate link and every column will be a field.

2- Export affiliate links to a CSV file

To export all the affiliate links to a CSV file to edit with Excel, Google Sheets, or any other CSV editor, you need to do this:

a) Click Export in the top toolbar.

b) Configure the export and download the CSV file

  • What columns do you want to export: Click Select All to export all columns.
  • I understand it will export all the rows from my current search: Tick this checkbox.
  • What app will you use to edit this file? (optional): Select any of the available apps to edit the CSV file.
  • Name of this export (optional): You can set a name for this export and use it for future exports.
  • Click Start new export.

After that, the CSV file containing all the information from the affiliate links will be downloaded to your computer.

3- Edit the affiliate links in Excel, Google Sheets, etc.

Here’s how the downloaded affiliate links look in Excel. You can apply any changes to the cells here and then just import the changes to WordPress using WP Sheet Editor. Also, you can create new affiliate links and import them to create them automatically on WordPress.

4- Import affiliate links from Excel, Google Sheets, etc.

Once you’ve applied changes to the downloaded CSV file and created new affiliate links, you need to follow these steps to import them to WordPress with WP Sheet Editor.

a) Open the Import tool with one click. It’s on the top toolbar.

b) Select the CSV from your computer.

  • Source: CSV file from my computer
  • CSV: Click Choose File and select the CSV file from your computer.
  • Click Next.

c) Click Import all the columns.

d) Configure the import

  • Do you want to update or create items: Create new items and update existing items
  • CSV Field: record_id
  • WordPress Field: ID
  • Click Next.

e) Complete the import process

Finally, you’ll be shown a preview of how the affiliate links will look imported. If everything’s OK, click The preview is fine, start import.

Once the import process is done, you’ll see all the information updated in the spreadsheet.
